Thread: Pack File Manager 2.4.1 - Compatability Features added

  1. #161

Default Re: Pack File Manager 2.0.3

    New version 2.0.3 released:
    - integer columns now interpreted as signed numbers (allow values < 0 as some tables had)
    - added shader pack file support
    - added missing Pack Types in menu (BootX, Shader1, Shader2)
    - removed "Base Packed Files Where" dialog if Shogun 2 was not installed
    - fixed "CA packs read only" issue
    - fixed "Rename directory" context menu action
    - fixed "Add folder"
    - changed "Add folder" to not abort when a file already exists (still only adds non-existing ones though)
    - fixed file type in TSV import and export dialogs
    - added "CSV" extension to TSV import/export dialogs
    - fixed DB reference feature in DB editor
    - fixed crash when selecting Pack Type with no pack file opened
    - fixed descending db column sorting

The integer columns were changed for all tables; I don't know if there are any unsigned ones at all, there might be but I doubt it.
Keep an eye out for very high numbers (or very low negative ones).

I'll use Sourceforge as default hoster for the file I link in the OP, to save TWC the upload traffic.
I'll also link AveiMil's installer from there, which will also be hosted on Sourceforge.

Added the "Armor value", but too many columns to reliably find the 97th (also depends on what version you open). How many after "unknown112" is it?

Just wondering if something has been fixed- as of November-ish 2011 (sorry forgotten what version as you have been busy with lots of updates ).

The problem is an option found in- db/units_stats_land_tables/unit_stats_land.
The option to give a unit "Scares Enemies = true", was broken - in the fact that it turned a unit into "the avatar of all terror", which could rout entire armies after a few seconds of coming into the fear radius!

I have no understanding of why this happens, but CA units which have this option set to true work without a problem - so I have always assumed it was a problem with PFM...

Anyone know if this has been resolved in any of the recent builds of PFM, or if this is not a problem with PFM - how it is worked around.

    Cheers.

    Hey guys,

I read through some of this thread but I need some help. I'm trying to uncap hero units for custom battles so I can have 20 heroes in 1 army. I've learned that you need to use the pack file manager to make changes to MP_Unit_Limit, according to a thread I posted here:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=521827

Do I need to download pack file manager? Can someone guide me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

Yes it is available for download in the first post of this very thread!

Be warned - DO NOT edit the original data.pack file, as any changes made to this will prevent online play, instead save a new .pack file with your changes in. You can then move this pack file out of your data directory when you wish to play online.

It is all very simple to make the change you wish, just follow the installation instructions and a simple unit modding tutorial

Thanks for the reply. Apparently I need to edit patch14.pack to set unit limit to 0 instead of 1.

So the moddding in shogun 2 is different than in RTW and medieval 2 I take it? You don't make changes to the files but you create new (pack) files?

update: I managed to make the necessary changes and created a file called "new-data.pack".
    What's the next step?

Set your .pack to type 'Movie' and then place the .pack in your Shogun 2 Data folder.

If you used the Installer for PFM, simply goto Start->Run and type in s2d and press enter.

I already chose "movie" type when I created the new pack file.

Yes, I did use the installer. What does it do when you use the command prompt and type s2d?

    thanks

    oh ok.
once u place the new .pack file into the data directory, what then? I dont understand this.

I created a new 1.7GB pack file called new-data.pack. I still have the original data.pack in the data folder.

    What now?

    EEEEK!

No, you export the unit_stats_land file from the patch14.pack and then you create a new .pack file and import the file you exported (use Import directory and import the 'db' directory that is created when exporting.

You should only have a .pack file that contains the changes you want to make, should small, not 1.7GIG.

Download other pack files and look at them in PFM to get the idea.

Ok I tried this but I got no clue what I'm doing. I need step by step instructions as I don't understand the basic concept of this yet.

I click the "units" table, make the changes, then I'm able to export this 'units' file into a folder called 'db'.

But I don't understand the rest.

I don't have a patch14.pack file. I have patch.pack and patch2.pack. I think my game is not patched to the most recent version.
Anyway, whenever I change the MP_Unit_Limit column to 0 in my new pack file, it DOES NOT SAVE. It keeps reverting back to the original numbers.

    Have a look:

Well for me it worked fine in 2.0.3.

I have no idea what you're doing, but all I did was set the values to 0 and then press CTRL+S. There is not much room for error.
