some people posted success with bios updates from the mobo makers while some post success with unofficial bios updates, and some say no matter what they do, its still broken. i still recommend asking for a refund since any update is going to slow down your pc and your not getting the performance you paid for in the first place.

im more curious why amd has been so silent on the issue, maybe the 10 people who own bulldozer have already gotten a refund

Grab the beta bios from your manufacturer. Mine used to BSOD with my FX4100 but the beta drivers for the GA-970A fixed it great. Now it works like a charm.

well holy crap I'm glad I went ahead with the 1090 x6. Got that baby running 3.9GHz on all six cores, prime95 stable! Beast though, crunch through anything. Just added an EVGA GTX 550 TI (2 freaking Gigabytes of VRam) now I'm searching for tweaks to the graphics settings (ini files or something) to make it look better than maxed out ingame setttings will give me.

    Well... this blows.

Didn't even think to check whether Bulldozers worked or not. Runs TOR and BF3 great. I'll try a BIOS but if that doesn't work then I guess I won't be buying Fall of the Samurai.

Update: Well updating the audio didn't make a difference and it looks like there is only one bios for my board. Basically the game gets to the first loading screen and stops. It doesn't even get to the point of changing the mouse cursor to the arrowhead before crapping out. Now it doesn't lockup, I can usually alt-tab out or task manager it away, but... Well, unless anyone has any suggestions, Fall of the Samurai is no longer on my buy list.

i have to say that no one expects a processor to not play a game, ie a 2012 processor not playing a 2012 game, but the freeze your experiencing is the problem everyone else is experiencing. call the mobo manu and try to find some answers.

Well at least it isn't affecting all "Steam Enabled" games. Civ5 is working and that is my other "big" Steam game. Hopefully FNV, Skyrim, and the Arkham games are not also affected. Still downloading them. Yeah... That is just so bizarre.

So... Phenom works? I might shop around and see. Don't like the stock fan so I was thinking about using the one from my previous rig anyway. Plus I usually Arctic 5, or is it 4, my cpu's and haven't done that yet.

6 posts up. Same brand of board, same CPU, problem solved by updating BIOS.

Looks like there is hope for those of us with GA-M68MT-S2 (3.x) boards.

Well I can actually get into the game but it still crashed when trying to start a campaign. We'll see after I do some more tweaking if I can play.

You may now be experiencing the "Steam update" glitch that has been going around for a couple of weeks.

P.S.> Not to be overly critical BUT that mobo is a seriously antiquated POS. I see that Gigabyte "updated" the board to be "AM3+" yet still has 600 series NB-about 5 years old. The reality is that FX Procs need a 900 series chipset to function properly. It's like you are putting a Ferrari engine in a Model T, and keeping the Model T's transmission. It will work. For a while anyways. But you will never see the true performance for your 4100 in that board. Even without overclocking that 4100 you are pushing the limit of what the VRM MOSFETS (onboard power) can handle on that mobo. If you have a video card that draws board power it might put you over the limit.

Also that board actually uses an Nvidia Northbridge chipset. If you are going with AMD, go all the way. In theory "mixing oil and water" (AMD/Nvidia/Intel) is "ok" but scan any computer forum and you will see mounds of threads about problems arising from doing such. I suggest saving yourself some headaches and heartbreaks and get a correct FX compatible Mobo. 970 chipset boards run about $90, I see them open box on Newegg for $60 every day. Edit to add: If you are limited to an MATX mobo due to your case, you may have to settle for a 800 series chipset or spring another ~$30 for a full ATX case so you can get a 900 series board.

Thread from OCN about your exact same setup

Thread from OCN about your exact same setup
Oh yeah, I fell for the price tag temptation when wandering around newegg one day. Of course my old rig was one of the early e6600's with ddr2 and xp 32 bit. So it was still a nice step up for me. Was going to build my own but, components wise, the price difference was pretty tiny. Of course the first thing I did was toss in my 6850 and 550w. Now after digging around in it I am seriously missing my old ATX. These micro boards just don't look right to me.

After doing the game cache check through Steam, S2 runs okay. Graphics wise its much prettier than my old setup but loading wise its noticeably slower. Of course that is probably the board so I'll end up buying a new one as soon as I figure I can sneak it pass the wife. Maybe I can hide it under my shirt. Should have just built my own but my impulse buying habits got the better of me again.

I'm one of those types who actually hopes something breaks so I can have an excuse to crack it open and start testing my "electrocutability." In my old rig the only thing I had not replaced over the last five plus years was the cpu and the case. Morale of the story is, again, that its always better to build your own than use a boutique or big builder.

Oh yeah, its also good that Fall of the Samurai is back on my "buy" list.

None from me. Log in as Adminisrator and reinstall the game may work.

Ask Gigabyte and give them your board model. They may know something that's not being posted.
