All right mate, you convinced me, I'm gonna make this change in the mod and credit you for the excellent idea!

And so my question on the Arpadhazis and Hungary became a place to discuss the Portuguese... I love it!

Sorry for the hijack, now back to the original topic - here's the code that describes the Hungarian family tree in descr_strat.txt:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    character_record Geza, male, age 60, dead 23, never_a_leader
    character_record Zsofia, female, age 58, dead 12, never_a_leader
    character_record Predslava, female, age 24, alive, never_a_leader
    character_record Eufemia, female, age 30, alive, never_a_leader
    character_record Adelaide, female, age 10, alive, never_a_leader
    character_record Bela, male, age 2, alive, never_a_leader

relative Kalman Arpadhazi, Eufemia, Istvan Arpadhazi, end
relative Almos Arpadhazi, Predslava, Adelaide, Bela, end
relative Geza, Zsofia, Kalman Arpadhazi, Almos Arpadhazi, end
I guess the problem could be that Géza doesn't have a surname, as in most cases it is the male member at the top of the family tree who defines the dynasty name, due to some strange limitations of the game engine. Thus, if Géza were given the Árpádházi surname than all of his descendants (except for those whose father came from outside the family) should get this surname as well.

Try this trick and let me know if it works!

By the way, how would you translate "junior King" in Hungarian (for heir)? I think it really is !
For the Kievan Rus we have "Knyazhich": that rocks !

Hey now Prince, I was being sincere! The thread may have been hijacked, but that doesn't mean I didn't think it was good regardless! It's like the waiter brings you two desserts. The posts on Portugal were still fun to read!

Ok, I did it, and it worked! However, for anyone else who sees problems with stuff like this, you need to go into world-maps-campaign-imperial campgain. What I originally tried to do, which didnt work, was mod the early_campaign. Good work Prince!

Yeah, there is not much to do in there. The original Hungarian term is "ifjabb király", which is very close to the English translation (another option would be "younger king", but the word "young" is not used in this context). The original Latin is "rex iunior", which is essentially the same thing.

Agreed, "ifjabb király" is a good translation and "trónörökös" (heir apparent) is also a reasonable one. Nevertheless, personally I decided to use "herceg" in my historical titles update, which is not an entirely accurate translation given its primary meaning (prince), but in Hungary this term was generally used to address the heir and the brothers of the king, not to mention it even sounds a bit better too.

Well, very very nice suggestions ! In any case, I prefer them to "junior King" even if it's a correct translation since I don't like it at all (like "co-emperor" for the Byzantine Heir, by the way. I also changed that one). I even think that for the King's and Heir's names, they should be written in their native language since pointing on the character also subtitles "Faction Heir" or "Faction Leader". Except if it's very long or absolutely unreadable, of course. It would sound more realistic (and we would learn something else by the way !).

Well, this could be a suggestion for the next Stainless Steel version ! And we already have this native precision for the Byzantines and the Russians (I guess the Team modders are Greeks and Russians )

    Many thanks !

EDIT: Well, it was a quick'n easy modification... so I corrected the relevant file with native translations, for those of you that could be interested. The Papal States translation is a Lateen version ! (thanks Wiki !)
