Eventually; the mod is totally disabled right now (I removed the WIP barracks system that had been put in by Nero as a placeholder , so the only factions that can recruit units are those of which I just coded in the barracks) and hoplites currently lose against sparabara (that shouldn't happen; the perfect situation would be Hoplites that are weakened by prolonged arrow fire be defeated by Sparabara after closing in).

I give it a month of 2 before we need actual testing of stuff. And even then it will just be unit and initial campaign balancing; by far not anything close to the final version.

Sparabara should be about equal to dorikoi/ionikoi hoplitai. They had (better) training and prolly more experience, but almost useless shields.

Exactly; if the Sparabara ran all the way to the hoplites without the hoplites doing a thing the hoplites would win. If the hoplites first were weakened by arrows and then charged by sparabara it would be in equal battle, and if the hoplites got peppered by arrows and had to run to the sparabara they'd get beaten.

That's for the Doriokoi and the Ionikoi, at least. The more "elite" hoplites are basically above most eastern infantry, spare anusyia and kara arstibara (see: preview I) but would have very low stamina, making them easy targets for archers, axemen and cavalry.

Just an update on what we're doing: the fun stuff: modelling, skinning, adding and balancing units (which means actually playing the mod instead of the boring coding I've been doing the last months), etc.

The winged symbol on the chariot is not a zoroastrian symbol but it did form the basis for the farvahar. The winged disc was around for ages before the Persians. The Persians added the man riding in the disc so that's how you tell the difference

ofcaurse but it's still a symbol of zoroastarianism.
and I'm not sure but I think that the bobylonians BG have full farvahars (just like my avatar )

That bird-ring-ball thingy was the symbol of an Assyrian god, IIRC, too.

Please keep these discussions in the chat thread. I'm fine when someone asks about the farvahar-ish thing on the Baylonian chariots, but the discussions then escalates into a general farvahar discussion. Please keep subjects in the proper threads

Well, we are getting out of the "Baktrian impasse"; Nero has been doing some great work and is fixing the units for us. That means we're another step closer to a preview
