Alright, I'll start with my comment.

For s sake, do we really need another one of these debates? Yes, it's marketed as a girls show, no we don't give a single flying and no it will not stop us from watching it.

Nope. I don't care what people do in the privacy of their own home. I've just never turned down an arguement I thought I could win.

And I'm fairly arrogant, I think I can win most! This was just particularly easy because I've had a very similar debate about a different cartoon series.

It's a little girls franchise that created a little girls show... MLP has existed from 1983 but ''Friendship is Magic'' has only existed for a year or so, the guys who see it are creating a fetishistic construction around something which has other functions(entertaining little girls).

In other words it's a little girls show mostly seen by little girls that's been momentarily surrounded by a crowd of seriously deluded individuals who think the show has other latent functions that are different from those of simply entertaining and selling merchandise to girls, they might have shady reasons as well. Confusing a function doesn't mean you can't actively re-signify it.

I just find it entertaining. That's it. There certainly exist a lot of obscene stuff about it, but there's stuff like that for everything. I don't like it, some do. So what?

Seriously you don't need to keep telling the world about your hate for MLP. My roomate hates it (and hates seeing MLP crossovers), but he doesn't keep complaining everytime I am watching it or doing something MLP related. You are entitled to your own opinion, but you should also consider that the show is liked by a good amount of people and like the song says "Let it be".

That is true of almost every single cartoon made. Every Disney film, even a show for newborns such as 'special agent oso' that I have to watch with my daughter. Why do I say that? Well the beginning of the episode they give the case a name and it's always a play on a James bond film. This is CLEARLY not aimed at the children who simply cannot read or speak, let alone get 'in' jokes about a special agent film series.

However, no matter how much a cartoon like this is written with adults in mind it does not make it written for adults.
