    Default TWC History

A long time ago, on a forum server far far away, I branded myself the dubious honour of being TWC's historian. In my role I collected about 12,000 words of forum posts, MSN conversations and interviews with the oldest of the old of TWC's population between 2005 and 2007. Then my computer fried itself, and it was all gone.

However, now I'm back, I figure I'm older and wiser. And in my ancient wisdom I realised compiling the hilarious and dramatic escapades of TWC's elites and rulers is not a one-man job. (Also, I saw my name in the wiki history for TWC and got a little over-excited that once upon a time I was important) As such I figure amongst the forum's civitates I can find those who do remember what happened in the old days.

When I say old, I don't mean pre-2005. We already have 3/4 biographies of the big names of back in the days before RTW was the game of the year. But what has happened since then? The Curia expulsions, the rise of the Patricians, the Ogre crisis, Sulla's dictatorship, the rise of Archer, imb39's economic bailout (in a strictly non-chronological order). And also all the things I haven't been here to see. What has happened since 2008 and my inactivity? Where is ferrets? What on earth happened to Toby? What is this Forum Magnum thingamagig?

Come, elite of the forum, lend me your ears and your fingers, bless the wiki with your knowledge.

Ferrets is a bit of a hot topic right now... I suppose that would come as a shock.

The Forum Magnum is this place where things can be organised for the site. Anyone can be involved, but it's led by citizens (or for you, civitates). Citizens tend to sit in the Curia though and the FM is rather lifeless. There's also been a lot of discussion on curial reform in the past six months. Welcome back

Completely unsurprising, typical ferrets really. This all seems to tie into the Tony case which seems a bit unsavoury, I have to hugely disagree with the suggestion that this not be history-worthy. From what I can see of the way staff have dealt with it if anything it shows the ability of those who run the forum to deal with such a serious issue.

Curial reform? Also does this mean that the Artifex/Civitate split has been removed?

I hardly think we should just write out the parts of history that show us in a bad light. That goes against the entire concept of history itself, one of whose main aims is to endow us with the knowledge of what has come before so that it may be stopped from happening again.

Nope, that's still there. There have just been calls to change things to make the Curia do more than it currently does. Or get rid of it completely. Something like that. There are a number of threads on it. Try here for a list, here and currently here for more information about the different ideas floating around.

Maybe after a bit of time has passed there will be a more open conversation about what has happened and how the staff dealt with the Tony thing (dealt with well I might add).

I could do the history, and write in a way to interest people, and also protect the innocent.
If the HEX want me too, that is.

The Artifex/Civitate thing is still so bad someone proposed banning specifically labelled "Artifex" or "Civitate" applications to prevent confusion and bias in the citizenship application process.

I personally disagree, I've always enjoyed the system and before then the "Patrician" rank (though I may be slightly biased in that respect).

Would the content staff be interested in doing a special dramaticised version of history? (Not that there needs to be any more drama to be honest)

    (I like using brackets)

Never said anyone didn't like the system

I think you could find some interested people. Beli, tBP, and HA (maybe some others) have already written histories... Maybe talk to them.

If you're still doing this I can lend my history. I was in the thick of everything from 05 to 06. I spent the better half of the last 4 hours reading up the living history and got all nastolgic.
