Ok this is what I did. I loaded the save before I sunk his king and prince (fortunately I keep nearly all saves at their beggining and end).
Then pressed end turn without sinking them
    there is the log

If you can carry on from this save, my advice would be dont sink the king and heir for now, and then hopefully you can carry on with your game!

My theory is, is that when you killed the king and heir, the ai tried to make the heir the new faction leader, but ofcourse he was dead and this maybe caused the crash!

Carry on from here, but without sinking the Byzantine Faction Leader and Heir, hopefully you will be ok!

Ok, that could be. One thing is for sure as you said: it has to be with the death of some character in the Byzantium faction. Is that right?

Im not 100% certain its the ship sinking that caused it, but it does seem likely to be something to do with the Byzantines.

I wish it has not to be with that sinking because it would mean that we have to replay like 2 or 3 turns and then everybody would now how others played, and now we are in the most thrilling part of the war!!

I will ask my ally (aztec) if he assasinated any greek character last turn and from there try to find out...

Do you think it is possible that the crash could come 2 turns after the sunk of the king, when last turn there was a greek faction leader ruling?

Well i think its unlikely to be the cause as a couple of turns have passed, but im sure it has something to do with the Byzantine Empire.

Is there a human player playing as the Aztec faction?

Yes, all factions started being human played except Papal States and rebels. Now there are only 5 factions in 2 alliances left: Russia, Byzantium and Denmark vs. Castille (me) and Aztecs. Being a big drawback for them the lack of siege machines or fleets.

Thank you very much for your help. I'll keep you informed if there are any further progress with this issue. Also if you finish your interesting mod and it is based on Retrofit it would be a good idea for us to try it in a hotseat.

I have come to realize it has nothing to do with greek characters. I loaded the save of turn #86 and attacked the Pope, who dies in combat. When I press End Turn game crashes!!

Fixed!! We managed to give the papal states a settlement and the crash dissapeared!

Anyway, thank you VERY much for your help, and remember to let me know when your mod is finished, please!!
