    Default Forum Turnover

Obviously we have a fairly high turnover in users. Has anyone thought about a way to attract new people to the site considering the dry spell we will experience over the summer?

Of course I realise this site is not in it for the money so turnover is not neccessarily the issue except in terms of community.

What is happening with Archers thoughts on expanding the sites focus to an extra game or games?

This is something we are constantly discussing in staff, we have had ideas about other games, news and so on. All suggestions and so on are welcome.

Well I think obviously the incorporation of other games is paramount for turnover.

General games news dedicated and active and expandable if its popularity warrants it. Reviews of other games (an actual dedicated review of TWC mods could be interesting instead of just threads and news about it). The fact is as long as it is devoted to one game it has a limited scope to accrue members from a limited base therefore a high turnover low attraction. Of course the expansion does not have to be focused on games (does it?). A lot of the "clients" are history or community orientated - just a thought.

Hell I dunno I'm just throwing things out here which I am sure the staff have churned over a thousand times just proposed the topic on the spur of the moment.

Having this discussion about changes to the site transparent? Maybe some of the plebs or civs could offer something (more than me certainly), or even just making a thread with a poll about prospective changes and getting some opinions. Getting some feedback might stimulate ideas and feasibility

the dry spell we will experience over the summer?
I've got the feeling that I will be one of the only people who will continue to post non-stop all summer long.

The plebs come and go more. Adding games is a good way to get more people to visit but it doesn't guarantee anything during the "off season"

I will be another, I haven't stayed for the game for a long long time. Possibly a good reason to expand away from the games direction and more into community based expansion. I have no idea where I am going with that btw.

I think you should enjoy the dry spell. Things will get crazy enough as MTW2 comes closer to release. However, what we should do is ensure things are properly set up to keep new users here when that time comes.

to say that we have had 1578 users register so far this year, I wouldn't exactly say "dry spell".

    Interesting....

How many users have been active within the past 2/3 weeks though? that would be a better estimate of how active the site is.
Also I think that opening up the site to more games in a special subforum will definitely attract more people.

On adverage about 900 users are on each day. We also get a large amount of visits from unregistered persons too. (approximatly 3x as many as their are registered users online at any one time)

I think the dry speall isn't extreme enough to start thinking about such drastic decisions such as incorporating other games. We already have the Circus Maximus, and that's enough about talking about other games. If we made other games significant to TWcenter, it wouldn't be TWcenter now would it? We should just last out this dry spell if it ever comes, and rely on users that will come on through the summer. Besides, i'm thinking we already have alot of active users. It wouldn't be so bad.

Ok what about a general game news section? Never heard the saying to much is never enough?

I think that can be given over to the Circus Maximus too.

Maybe we should have a 'push' to get these guests registered? I don't know how but I think someone else would be able to come up with an idea....

maybe I shouldn't display all the forums for guests, because they come here, read their stuff they want to read and leave without registering.

But then the users who come here just won't come anymore because it is locked to them! That in my opinion is a bad solution Archer. We could find another way to encourage them to register.

most forums will not let you see all the content until you register. It'll show you some stuff, but anything exclusive (downloads/tutorials etc) is only available for registered users.

Well I guess that could be a solution, but I'm guessing some people will be drived away by that. Those who are looking for a quick download they could get from somewhere else will get it from another source instead of registering for TWC.

Then we'll just get a bunch of registered members who don't post.
