    Why am I a conservative?

Well there should be many factors that would determine that. For one I was born into a Methodist household in Texas. My parents taught me conservative beliefs and basically everyone I was around had those same beliefs. I grew up thinking that was the only way to think. That was until I moved to the heathen North, aka, Canada (it is a joke people...just settle the frik down). When my family moved there it was a total change in culture and also in political beliefs. Most people up there have socialist views and so my views and their views collided. That is when I first started to realize what my beliefs meant in the rest of the world. I didn't like how most of the Canadians thought the government, healthcare, foreign policy, etc, wanted all of those to be. Once the war in Iraq started I was bombarded by people attacking me politically but I kept my place and stood strong. I think the left wing views whine about too much stuff. Left wing views try to overcomplicate things which I think anyone can see what I mean by that if you look at what is happening in the United States. Conservative beliefs always focus on moving forward but at the same time try to keep things like they once were. It is like having the saying, "If it ain't broke don't fix it.", mixed with ideas of progressing. Keep the traditions but progress as a society. Is that good enough?

Nothing is perfect and nothing will ever be perfect but we still strive to make things as perfect as humanly possible. I think one thing that conservatism does is it focuses more on how to make things work the best for society as a whole while the left wing ideas focus more on making things the best for each person, each race, each class, etc. That makes things complicated and do you know what happens to complicated things? They break and cost a lot to fix.

So you admit your beliefs are becuase of childhood conditioning? If so why do you not work to correct this?
Every child's upbringing helps decide to some degree what they will be like when they grow up. Also, like I said once I moved to Canada I saw how my views were opposite of most of the people there. Then I knew what exactly my views meant to me and to others. I became even more conservative after that.

    What didnt you like?
Where will I start? Uh, their government (until recently) had been dominated for YEARS by one party. As for healthcare, yeah sure everyone gets it but contrary to what everyone will tell you...it is not free! I know many stories of people having to wait for hours in a hospital waiting room with serious injuries because I guess in Canada service is slow. Also, the doctors and nurses figure out that they can move to the United States and get paid a lot more. Hillary wants to have the US have a medicare system similar to the system that was used and had failed in Britain and in Canada. They could have good military but they're not funded hardly at all (I think Harper wants to change that though). Heck, they bought what I believe was two (maybe three) old British diesel subs and they started to sink! Canadians think of themselves as "peacekeepers". I think the country just north of the United States should show a little back bone every once and awhile. They helped us in Afghanistan though!

    So complaining can be unfavorable?
Yes...always! Complaining doesn't do anything. If you bring constructive criticism to the floor then things will get done. Complaining and whining shows lack of knowledge behind what they are complaining and whining about and immaturity.

What if these traditions are interfering with the progression of society?
The last time I checked I don't see how holding traditions as a whole interferes at all. However, there are some traditions that do.

    Is it?
I guess this is why I'm being cross-examined!

So its ok if some people starve while the nation as a whole has a good economy?

There will always be some people who will starve. Is it "ok" if that happens? Well no. Is it sad that it does? Yes. So basically, it will always happen and there is no way it will change. Whether it is "ok" or not is soley left up to opinion.

Why do you think that Atheism is illogical?

Ahem, according to a show of Penn & Tellers B.S. that I saw, there isnt a need for anybody to starve with genetically modified foodstuffs, which grow quicker, are more resilient, and produce more output of crops per acre planted. Although I dont see how people are starving in America in the first place, food is easy to come by here.

Rahl, how old are you? Whats your family like? What were your grades like in school, what did you excel at and what did you struggle in?

    Now to answer these questions...

Why do I think atheism is illogical? Well, with there being so many different things in the world, let alone the universe, I don't see how anyone can leave out even a smidgen of chance for their to be some higher power that created everything. Yeah, God's existence can't be proved but I also find it interesting that with all of the advances in science that God's existence can be proved to be false. It may sound improbable but impossible? No.

    I am 20.

    Whats your family like?
I have a dad and a mother, a 17 year old brother, and a 15 year old sister. My mom stays at home and my dad is President of Pioneer Alaska. http://www.pioneernrc.com/ I also have a Brittany Spaniel named, Brook. My dad is currently in Juneau (the capital of Alaska) talking with people about a oil tax bill and he is a very logical man. My mom just had foot surgery and is on crutches and she knows more about Star Trek: The Orignal Series than me! My brother is kind of like me, outgoing, loud, comedic, but not as good looking and he doesn't mix well with new people as much as I do. My sister is an animal freak and if she doesn't get her way someone has to be yelled at or hear her door get slammed.

What were your grades like in school, what did you excel at and what did you struggle in?
My grades in elementary school were always pretty good. In junior high when I lived in Texas I had good grades and then once I moved to Canada they started to slump because they aren't as competitive up there and I always felt like I could shrug off things. My high school grades were average but in math they were horrible. I hate math with a passion. It isn't interesting at all. All you do is plug in a bunch of numbers that mean nothing to you and find the answer...wooptyfrikindoo! I am good at any class that inspires and makes me use my imagination. Math does not do that at all. Music, art, and english allow me to do that.

First of all, Conservatives don't whine and secondly I'm not little.

Texas is the coolest thing in the universe for many reasons. I will name the main reasons. First, the food. No other place on earth has such good food for your bite, both of your mouth and of your wallet. Sure, you can travel to NY and get some amazing food but have fun paying for it! Texas has the best steak in the world, awesome Mexican food (or Tex-Mex), Cajun food, and the Dairy Queens you find in small towns in the country will be the best you've ever tasted. Plus, we also have Blue Bell ice cream which is the best in the world. Second, the people. Most Texans are very nice people once you get off the hectic highways and sit down and get to know them. We like to help out and always enjoy a nice talk. If you're driving on a small road way out in the country and there is an old beater of a pick up in front of you then I guarantee that person will pull over to the shoulder to let you pass. We have cool accents too. I have a theory that there are two different kinds of southern "drawls". I call them the "wet" and "dry" drawls. The "wet" drawl comes from wherever it rains a lot. This means that basically from east Texas and all the way to the ocean in the South they will all have the "wet" drawl. The "dry" drawl is for those who live past Fort Worth, Texas. Once you get past Ft. Worth you are in West Texas. Texans are very proud of being Texans. Have fun insulting Texas in front of a Texan. Many people say we are arrogant but that isn't true. We ain't arrogant. We're just Texan. Third, everything is bigger. That is a widely known saying in the world. If you go to Texas you will notice that the saying is true. We have bigger drinks, steaks, land, burgers, trucks, and mostly anything you can name save a few exceptions. We will not have bigger likings of the French for one. There are three quick reasons why Texas is the coolest thing in the universe.

PS - No man's voice will sound sexy to me. I'll leave it up to my women to turn me on with hers thank you.

So would that make you an agnostic? Because otherwise, if you were a theistic, couldn't you flip around the same arguement and make it apply to you? Why do you choose only to bad-mouth atheism when theism is guilty of the same logical flaw? Are you purposely excluding theism from mention because you secretly prefer theism because it traditionally lines up with your political ideology?

I believe in God. I am a Christian. I have seen things that make me believe that there is a God. I don't really see how someone can be agnostic. Usually either someone believe one way or the other. At least with atheism you have chosen a belief and not stood on the sidelines thinking of the impossibility of it all. Sure, you could flip the argument around and tell me that since I can't prove God's existence that there is no way I can believe in Him. However, Christianity isn't about facts is it? No. It is about faith. Atheists try to use science to justify their point but they don't realize that Christianity is not about that. Christianity doesn't provide earthly facts and rules to use. Christianity is about things of after earth. Atheism concentrates too much on trying to disprove things of the earth and there is no way they can win a argument on the issue when Christians strive to make it past it. Am I making any sense?

By that standard, couldn't an atheist be logical by simplely refusing to use science to prove anything, but rather believes in "no-god" by faith alone?

To me it would be logical for an atheist to use science to prove the non-existence of God. Atheists have no "faith" as in faith of a higher being, power, what have you. Since atheists do not believe in God then they must try to prove the non-existence of God through science for they have no other argument.

But by it's very nature, the scientific method uses inductive reasoning. You can't prove the non-existance of something by inductive reasoning. That itself is illogical. In order to prove anything at all, you would have to use a deductive method of reasoning.

And also, can't one have faith in something's non-existance? Can't I believe that there's no green elves under my bed by faith alone? How come faith only works when it's faith in favour of something's existance?

I'm not sure what my response to this six years ago would have been, honestly. Today, though, I'd say that I would accept my child's sexuality. As the father, though, I would probably feel some sort of...pain knowing that my child had a different sexuality than me and something I wouldn't ever be able to understand. Homosexuality has always been an interesting yet confusing topic for me. It's supposed to be biological but I've never understood how, if it's biological, how a male whose very biology is made to procreate with a female would, for a reason completely incomprehensible to me, would be inherently attracted to males (or a female to females). I could understand that they would be different than me, but I don't know if I'd ever understand how or why, and I think that would possibly be something to cause me a lot of stress. But I would love my child.
