    Default Roman stacks

    Roman Stacks ==

    But I would expect nothing less from the most formidable military (especially in terms of raising army after army) of the era.

    But still...

    However I have discovered an exploit that works along the Illyrian coastline. The Roman Horde stopped at one of my fortifications. One Roman stack beseiged said fortification, destroyed the garrison and left the fort unoccupied. I reoccupied the fort next turn. So I have inadvertantly found a method to give myself time to cobble together an army that will attack Rome itself!

    But I am ashamed of the exploit. No really I am and will put a stop to such behaviour immediately................Rome falls

    Sounds like good strategic thinking to me. I do it all the time by blocking bridges, valleys, passes, and other choke points with forts and armies. It's been done constantly in history as well (Thermopylae being the most popularly known example), so I see nothing "exploitative" about it whatsoever.

    I suppose. If the AI does not have to wit to reoccupy the fort then why not. Meanwhile I am picking off his stacks one by one as they feel their way along the mountain passes. However I realise this will go on forever unless I take Rome itself and start razing all the Italian cities to the ground.

    Ooh the Sacred Band units! I forgot about them. They scared the bejeebus out of me when I first saw the shield design. Time to raid a few capital cities in the Western Med.
