Default How do I merge existing naval units?

I just recently bought the game off Steam and really enjoy it except I can't figure out how to merge existing naval units. IE. I want to join the Yorktown and Hornet carriers together then add the destroyer escorts how the heck do you accomplish this?

I'm pretty sure I have clicked on every single button in every screen related. the closest I can get is the screen where you merge units but I can only get 1 unit to show up at a time. Also if there is a single unit then you can't even get the unit to show up at all.

When the units are selected there's a symbol of two arrows pointing in at each other. That'll merge them.

If the button that looks like -><- is grayed out for some reason, select the two units and hit the R key. That will take you to the reorganize screen, where you'll need to move units from one side to another. If you leave one side empty, then the fleet/wing/division will be removed since nothing's in it anymore. The R key will work even when you're not supposed to be able to merge units, like ones in combat or ships away from a base. If anything it's an exploit.

I haven't tried the r key yet but I will give that a go. How do I select more than 1 unit at a time? In the basic unit screen I don't see the merge units button at all. I just have create a new unit button. When I select the create new unit button it takes me to the screen you're talking about with the merge button on top. When I'm in this screen I can only select 1 unit at a time. I can't bring up another unit to merge with.
What I see is left to right: the box with the existing commander directly underneath is the box for the new unit with no commander. Next is the existing unit with the units in line top to bottom. next is an empty box.
I can switch units from the existing to the new unit box what I can't do is merge 2 existing units into 1. Thx for the tips I will try again and see what happens.

Click and drag the mouse over the units you want to reorganize.

You click and drag over multiple units on the map to select more than one. This is what you're not doing correctly and the cause of your problems. You'll know if you did it correctly when you see a list of units on the left side of the screen with a select button to the right of their names after you let go of the left mouse button.

Thanks again for your help I actually found a .pdf manual online so I figured out the select feature. it takes a bit of figuring as I can still only select 1 unit at a time but now I see that I can merge units then reorganize from that point. I appreciate your tips thank you.
