If u release it the massive frenzy it would create would perhaps make other modders join in for the final stages?

Also people would be more than happy to donate money via paypal to ~incourage~ the work to be finished. Your game will be better than Rome 2 and people will be happy to compensate.

Thaat's utterly impossible, although well-deserved for the team. The Medieval II game engine remains the property of CA, the EBII team can't get financial compensation for modding somebody else's work.

Really? I swear ive seen mods on other sites that did it. Just donations though of course

And meh, as ive said in other topics, I'd rather have EB2 than Rome 2. Ive heard that Shogun 2 and Empire arent friendly to modding, and well, was Empire and Shogun really awesome?

Cant play them since dial up, so thats a serious question. I mean, Rome and M2 were awesome, but when you add some mods, 10,000 times more awesome. I cant go back to Vanilla after playing the mods. Closest to Vanilla I can get is Stainless Steel

    @Mr Kriegtooth,

If you really want to play a Steam game, I suggest you cart your computer into some metroplex. Perhaps your lady friend's place: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2494050

Install it, patch it, set it to offline. I have seen people report it needs to go back into online mode and re-authenticate after a week, others have gone for years in offline mode without issues. Personally I now choose not to run Steam games...

I truly dislike the Steam idea. The online "must" to be able to play games and the multiplayer system that people are divided into timezones and continents. In good old Rome you had the lobby where you could meet and play with anyone you would've liked, no matter where. And honestly, I dislike the Avatar mode. Not for what it is, but because it got many people so caught up in it (because of the customization possibilities) that custom battles got so obsolete that you couldn't find someone to play with after a while. I want multiplayer custom battles to get more attention in R2, because that is one of the things what made it awesome.
Barely waiting on Med2 ancient era mod DE BELLO MUNDI !!! Check it out!

You might as well stop wasting words complaining about Steam. It and the concept it rode on is here to stay. You can either choose to accept it and play the games, or opt out of future games. Those are your only LEGAL avenues.

Speaking of custom battles, I find the Battle Editor and historical battles to be very satisfying. For the older non-steam titles I see a lot of life still left in the MP side of things. If done right. Probably via some sort of persistent army ruleset. For single player campaigns and the recreation of famous battles it is also rather rewarding.

Eh, I'll complain about Steam. Its killed PC gaming for me, havent bought a new PC game since The Sims 3. Well, and some old stuff. But yeeah, it wont ever end.

Besides mods, all I do now is play Xbox 360.

I also stopped buying singleplayer games that are on Steam. There is no point.

I only keep it for games I plan to play in MP and even then I haven't fired it up in over a year now. Far too Orwellian for my tastes.

Everytime it opens with its "BUY THIS, BUY THAT! SPEND TO SAVE MONEY" crap I am reminded of the first couple scenes of Blade Runner with the advertisement blimp

Hey Guys, last time I checked (several months ago) it was said that the probable release date would be the end of 2012.
    How far are you?
Are you gonna keep that date?

Why even go on with this mod knowing that RTWII is coming out, it seems like a waste of time. Not trying to troll or anything, it's just my thought on it. Plus, the MTWII engine is "old", and can't take advantage of multi-core CPU's, so the more complexity you build into this mod, the slower it will become when one is playing it, so why not wait for RTWII to come out, and then direct your modding efforts towards that.

    2 reasons:

    1) Many TW players don't care about the engine, only for the gameplay.

    2) EB2 will surely be better than Rome 2 on so many aspects that i can't spend time writing them all.

That right there wasnt a very smart things to say, every TW fan knows that with Rome 2 there will be things we like and there will be things we dont like. EB2 will no doubt be on the level if not better than Rome 2 will be.

I look forward to both games, but Rome II is a game with "potential" because of its engine, that inevitably will not be realized for years, whereas EB2 will likely be the mtw2 engine's masterpiece (as EB1 was to the Rome engine). Also, MTW2 is beautiful - the animations, weather, battlefields, all of it... I have seen units with mixed weapons, shields, beards, different colored horses, all dying in a field of flowers as blood splashes and arrows dance... That game was criticized for being too much eye candy when it came out, and it is still beautiful now. I actually think that many of the graphics from that engine are on par with the much newer games, especially with custom textures and models...

Rome 2 on the other hand will undoubtedly be amazing in many different ways, but it may not begin to realize its true potential for several years until some really good mods come out - after every ounce of DLC has been marketed and CA has moved on to a new game. Perhaps 5-6 years from now we'll be talking about an EB3, and then Rome 2 will begin to reach its actual potential as well...

Because there are many things you can do to the RTW/M2TW engine that, as of right now, you cannot do to the Warscape engine.

And even if Rome 2 would be better in some ways, who would throw away years of one's life because of that?

    1) I care for game play too, and game play is made better if it takes full advantage of new technology, because waiting 1 minute between turns just plainly sucks.

    2) Let's hope so, but EB is going to have to fight an uphill battle to attract eye share to it, if it doesn't come before RTWII comes out.

I understand that, and hopefully that will change in the future, because all the things this mod promise to deliver would seem better suited for the new engine instead of the old.

nobody force you to play this or that. itīs finally all your choise.
    1)
if there is 1 minute turntime - ok, buy a better computer, it is not the fault of any modingteam, if the players computer doesnīt handle the scripts probably. solve those problems for yourself, as you are the only one that can handle this kind of problem.

    2)
    there is not such fight.
this is a mod for a 7 year old gameengine... if you donīt like this, donīt play it. but donīt question or harm the people that are creating and play mods for doing so.
again - there is no fight or competition

sorry for sounding harsh, but this kind of "questions" are a little bit off-topic and donīt lead to anything positive and constructive
