The smurfs already have their own "auxiliary" IG army.

Oh, it wasnt an assumption that it would fail.

Bascially the back story to this is I was working in a GW shop at the time of the campaign. We were all given some 'end game' information - basically if the imperials win heavily - this will happen, if chaos win - this will happen. In the end it was a draw, so basically nothing happened.

I dont know if they would have gone through with it however, but that is what we mere lowly mortals were told.

Well then what would have happened if the Imperium won?

Most likely they would have a Huzzah moment and then 1-Hit-K.O. the Tau. ill wait for the official explanation though.

Honestly - I really dont know if the store manager ever told us. It was 10-12 years ago and the store manager was a HUGE chaos player. He wanted to ensure that all the games in the store were wins for chaos...

Id love to be able to tell you, but anything I said would be making it up.

A lot of people would die in a most grimdark manner, the IG would get redeployed to other s, the space marines would get redeployed, the Sisters would go back to scaring small children, the inquisition would most likely kill a lot of civilians on the spot to make it more grim or dark.

Just a question: does the storyline evolve and move every time that a new edition of the game is released? Or are all of the Warhammer 40K games meant to be timed only within the current period of the Time of Ending?

The latter. But now, since GW 'advanced' the storyline of Warhammer Fantasy, and it was a load of utter , perhaps people will stop clamouring for 'change' and see that both Warhammers are settings and not stories.
It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

Technically speaking some of what the OP said is already possible within the current setting.

The Eldar do cooperate with the Imperium to a certain extent - there's an entire craftworld floating in the Solar System for instance. Many exodites live in Imperial claimed worlds, and many craftworlds probably hide behind Imperial space, taking advantage of the protection Imperial space offers them, like fish in corals. The Inquisition, military commanders, and occasionally even the High Lords put aside their xenophobia and requisition Eldar assistance, especially when it comes to fighting very dire mutual enemies, though neither side holds to the relationship after the immediate threat has passed. The Sisters of Battle ironically, despite their furious hatred of xenos and extreme fundamentalism, are shown to get along with the Eldar quite well on the "allies" chart in the rulebook, indicating that canonically, these two factions endure a legacy of positive relations. Finally, given human nature, it's highly probable that the Imperium's educated and wealthy upper classes strongly associate with the Eldar on a both cultural and commercial level, tempted equally by rare exotic goods and the intellectual appeal of a vastly older, sophisticated culture.

Let's not forget three facts. Aside from species racism and haughty sense of pride, the Space French absolutely hate mankind for a very good reason. They see it as a verminous, inferior species that spread across the galaxy, including many sacred worlds once part of an ancient Eldar Empire, simply due a pest-like breeding rate. There's no reason for them to place humanity on a higher moral ground than say, Orks. Furthermore mankind is responsible in the greater part for Chaos. The Eldar created Slaanesh, to be sure, but with the Eldar in the galaxy alone, they could have eventually succeeded in curbing his power and influence. However, because humanity "feeds" Slaanesh in a vast amplitude, all their efforts in leading an austere existence are mostly in vain. On top of that humans also comprise the bulk of both the soul energy and servants required to sustain and empower the other Chaos gods. So yes, the Eldar hate, HATE the Imperium beyond all redemption.

But the same goes the other way. Imperials don't generally speaking, distinguish between "dark" and "regular" flavors of Eldar. That is because both have a history of unspeakably cruel and treacherous behavior. Countless worlds were attacked without provocation, countless billions of people kidnapped or exterminated for no apparent reason, countless times Imperial forces were stabbed in the back by Eldar appearing out of nowhere at the most inopportune moments. There simply no way to bore into the mind and intentions of an Eldar, because of the mercurial and fickle nature of the aliens. The Imperium simply sees no way to come to an accord with them, and as such they're considered for all intents and purposes, exterminatus diabolis. Add that to the usual irrational religious/xenophobic hysteria that the Imperium is gripped with in its declining age of ignorance and hate.

Thirdly, there's nobody in either the Imperium or the Eldar who speaks for the entire race. The Imperium has perhaps an easier time with this in principle, having a central administration and authority, but it will be near impossible to convince all planetary govenors, the Astartes Chapters, mechanicus and church leaders, as well as other zealous figures prominent in the Imperium, to all of a sudden set aside their long held prejudices against the Eldar, based on a timeline of injuries. Likewise nobody speaks for all the Eldar at once as well, not only due to a lack of communication between the dispersed members of the race, but also long standing mutually held disputes which are causes of not uncommon wars and raids between craftworlds.

So yes, both sides need to grow up, mature a little, put aside their differences and realize that one can't survive without the other in the face of other, greater threats surrounding them. However the likelihood of this happening is probably a lot less than the Ayatollah flying to Tel Aviv and giving the Prime Minister a hug.

It depends on the situation. Sometimes the same elder that altered events like the Armageddon war will join forces with the Imperium depending on the current situation.

That and the same Eldar are just as likely to backstab the Imperium so it's difficult to trust. That and while some craftworlds are friendly the others aren't so as you said it's extremely difficult.

On that matter does anyone have information regarding the Robots that the Adeptus are deploying now? I thought robots or AIs were outlawed yet we see information about these war machines being deployed on the front lines....in one recent story one Commissar flipped out when he saw one of the new Karskain robots and tried executing the tech priest controlling it.

Warhammer 40k should totally have Blood angels and Nercons teaming-up.

What? Matt Ward already did it?

Next your saying they are making Warhammer Fantasy marines.

On a serious note, i suggest a alternative storyline set in the past, kinda like the excellent Dorian Heresy, witch can be supported with good models.
