Marriage in Britannia

Prince Arthur IX and his soon-to-be bride Maria Eanes de Portugal have come to consecrate the holy vows of marriage in Camelot. Every Christian nation is invited, even the Orthodox and the hated Scandinavians.

Prinz Thoman, son of the König will attend - he hopes that the Crusader States will send his own bride-to-be, Lorraine St. Peirre.

Arthur greets the Prince warmly - the House of Pendragon has always tried to maintain friendship with the descendants of Count Meinfridus. "We'd be glad to have her too, we would even put on a wedding here in Verulamium for you two if you wanted."

"As much as I appreciate the gesture, Arthur, I plan to marry Lorraine in Jerusalem, in her own land. I have never seen the Holy City, and I think such an occasion in such a place would be fitting."

OOC: The current line of Königs is not directly descended from Meinfridus - remember, he was brother of the original Duke of Livonia in the last game. Also, how old is Arthur IX? I'm just interested to see if he is about the same age as Thoman.

Arthur IX is approximately 20 years old, I haven't actually taken the time to age my chars, so I just made that up.

Lady Maria Eanes de Portugal comes through the passage of the church in full white dress and veil. She came with the sound of trumpets, and by her side was dom João I. Her brother, Henrique de Galiza, Heir to the Portuguese Crown, was as one of the best-men, seeing his sister go up the steps. dom João gives the bride to Arthur with a smile and then takes his place beside Henrique. Among the lords that came was d. Gonçalo de Viana, d. Manuel de Arraiolos, d. Rogério de Brito, and the Cardinal d. Antônio Alves, among others. It was a great event indeed.

Maria chose to change her name to its more Anglic form, so that it would easen the approximation between her and the people, taking on the name of Mary of Portugal.

The emperor sends a message stating that he will not be able to attend the wedding due to the death of his beloved wife. He does however whish the couple a long and prosperous marriage with many children.

Ic: João asked that Arthur IX went with him in private, with his lords, to discuss a most important matter.

"I'm sorry, but before anything I must speak with Thomas. (thomas shrugs and says it can wait a sec) Okay, what did you wish to speak of?"

Thoman smiles at João and bows low.

"Noble King, it was a pleasure to see the marriage. I can assure you your daughter is in good hands with Arthur."

He smiles again, and runs a hand through his black hair.

"If you two wish to speak, I shall leave you be for now. There are many others here I can speak to, though none so highly esteemed as you two."

He turns and strides away.
