ooc: We speak portuguese in portugal mate, not spanish, although Arcaic Portuguese is a bit like spanish

João I was sitting on his throne as the man came to his court. As the man came to the great doors of the palace, a valet came towards the man and spoke to him. Seeing that the man only spoke english he said in rather bad english "How wish you to be announced?" asked the valet, probably wanting to know how he wished to be introduced to the court, in a way that they would already know who it was before he entered the room..

ooc2: Damn it, have to go to a birthday now sorry agg!! will get back to this later :S

OOC: Don't worry about the party. Also, I knew archaic portuguese was like spanish, I didn't know Portuguese, so I was hoping you would know what I meant.

I am Count Cadwayle of Gwynedd. I wish to speak to your King on the matters above.

Yes, my lord. The man would say, and so he opened the big doors and entered the room. Then the Count heard the sound of the same man pronouncing in good an clear voice. "Aqui vem Sua Graça, Dom Cadwayle, o Conde de Gwynedd, da Inglaterra!" And so the doors were open so he could enter.

There was the King, d. João I, sitting on his throne and seeming to be interested in what was occuring. He called a man that was close by with a gesture of his hand, and he stood there by his side.

As the Count kissed his hand in respect, the King would say:

Bem vindo, Dom Cadwayle... o que te traz pra Portugal? Asked the King, and so the man beside him translated in a rather good french. Welcome, Lord Cadwayle... what brings you to Portugal?

OOC: Silly question and sorry for possibly ruining the rping but why are you translating to english? At this point the english language (Old English) had not even left the Isles, in fact it was not even spoken accross the entire British Isle then.
I can understand why you are typing in english but would it not be better to say it is being translated into the diplomats language and still type it in english?

"I, Pinkie Pie, declare that these treats are fit for a king, or a queen, or a princess!"
"Me? Ruin? I'm not the ruiner, I'm the ruinee! Or is it ruinness? Ruinette?"
"She's ahead of the litter all right. The pick of the litter. The cat's pajamas. Oh wait. Why would Applejack take some poor kitty's pj's? That's not very sporting of her."
"More balloons! No, that's too many balloons. More candy! No, less candy. Ooh! I know! Streamers!"
"Oh my gosh. Hold on to your hooves – I am just about to be brilliant!"

I know that old english wasn't spoken, it's not even spoken much outside the Duchy of Anglia. I just don't know the Spanish word for Welsh.

    Then they speak French instead.

We wish to know whether or not you have trade, and also, as we have three princes, none of which posess brides, we wish to know if you have any eligible daughters.

Temos em Alentejo uma das maiores produções de rolha de todo mundo conhecido. Said the King with pride. Além disso, produzimos boas safras de vinho, e bastante borracha.

We have in Alentejo one of the greatest production of corks
in all the known land. Translated the man. Further more, we produce a good harvest of wine, and much rubber.

Da proposta de casamento, seria uma honra apresentar a vós minha filha Catarina. Mas, gostaria de saber quem será o pretendente. Será o Herdeiro do Trono ou um dos mais novos?
Asked the King in a more serious fashion.

Of the marriage proposal, it would be an honor for His Majesty to present to you his daughter Katherine. But he wishes to know who will be the pretender. Will it be the Heir to the throne or one of the younger sons?

The man was given entrance and he the guard bellowed to the Court. Aqui vem Dom Alexandre de Latium, Cavaleiro do Condado de Tripoli!

The King was sitting in his throne and discussing with his advisers when he saw the man enter. He got up from his throne and greeted the man with open arms. He spoke to him in latin, the traveller's tongue. Welcome, Defender of the Faith... Please, come and have of my hospitallity. He then escorted the man to the table of debate, where the nobles of the Kingdom would unite to speak of matters of the state. The King sat and waved a man off, probably to send them food. So, what brings thee to Oporto?

It will be Prince Arthur IX, the next-in-line to the throne. He is young, only in his twenties, but he posesses great leadership skill. Arthur VIII, we're afraid, is a bit senile now, so Arthur IX has been running the whole country for the last ten years or so.

Also, take a look at our trade goods.

We would love to trade with the holy lands. Said João I with a smile. We have for trade Cork of the greatest quality, Wine, Rubis and Silver, and we also make medium sized ships on encomendation for trading purpouses. What have you, good friends, to trade?
