    Default Knights of Saint John

    Any experiences in playing as the KoSJ? Have you managed to beat down the Barbary States or retake the Holy Land?

    I recently captured Syria and Palestine, but they are slipping away, as bankruptcy is upon me, which leads me to my real query.

    Why can't I establish any trade routes whatsoever?

    You don't have trade routes because the only port with a land connection to your capital is not a trade port. If you want to do any trading it needs to be demolished and rebuilt for trade.

    The easiest way to get financial stability is to hold off capturing the Barbary States. Egypt and Mesopotamia are much richer regions, and will provide good bases for further conquest in the Holy Land and northern Africa.

    Most major mods unlock the ability to play as all factions present at the beginning of the campaign.

    I used DMUC, started it in custom campaign, saved it, went into early campaign, four turns, and boom.

    Getting bankrupted while playing as kosj is very easy so i bet you have to take ottoman region build a port and send more armies to middle east trade with superpowers also be allies with superpowers and take back the holy land

    aye, due to the lack of the port, i think you should try invade rich region like egypt first, or at least a region with port.

    I usually get rid of the military port and then exchange it with a trade port. Also I go to the Americas and take the Pirate islands.

    I wish someone would add Rhodes as one of the cities under KOSJ, because it was their original headquarters before Suleiman captured it.

    I love these guys. Their history is so fascinating.

    I would love them even more if the British would stop invading me with a half stack on turn 10 and if the first city I conquer from the Barbary States didn't take 15 ing turns to calm.

    The KoSJ mod made up for some of it when I tried them the second time, but then the Brits sent 14 naval units to transport their army instead of 1. I have 7 ships, and only 3 of them are 5th Rates. What the hell, game.

    I usually conquer a region with a trade port then give Malta away so the region I've conquered becomes my capital and I can have more than one trade route.

    You can't give away your capital if I recall. Your capital can only change when it gets conquered. In the diplomacy tab you can't demand a capital region as well.

    As it has been said previously, you should demolish the naval dock and build a trading port. Dont recruit any men for a while, just build up the trading port and buy technology from large factions such as GB, Prussia, Spain and France and after you have a trading port recruit trading ships, send them to the theatres and spam with trading ships to the trading ports around the world and you well receive a lot of income. After you are beginning to go above 10 k a turn, start recruiting some units and attack the Ottoman Empire. Capture the island at the coast of Israel and Turkey and then move from there to Greece. After that you should move some men deep into Turkey and sack all their settlements, giving you a great income boost, allowing you to recruit more and more men and as time passes by, stop sacking, but rather occupy the cities. Then ask for peace and build up the economy. Once you are making about 20 k a turn make war with Ottoman again, finishing them off. Then attack the Barbary States and from there it is pretty easy.

    There is no island that you can capture between Israel and Turkey. The island you mean is Cypruss but there is no settlement
