Thread: Using agent models for combat units?

  1. #1

Default Using agent models for combat units?

Is it possible to use models for agents (metsuke, geisha, etc) for combat units?

Would they show up on the battlefield or are they only for the campaign map?

there is a mod that does this already. However i found that it screws with the textures for other units.

    Oh, that's disheartening.

Guess I can try it and see what it looks like, but at least it's possible.

Best to rename the texture files, I have found.

IMO, the second geisha model looks the best .

Just set the unit to have the metsuke the unit the model and it will appear like that. Bear in mind all will have the same head however and that some campaign map models are too low poly to look good.

I noticed that if I told the game to use a uniform variant for a geisha (the same probably applies to the campaign ninja, metsuke and priest variants) it would instead use a samurai uniform. I was hypothesizing that something in the game files was telling something else "these are only for use on the campaign map," so I re-named them along with the uniform variant, and whaddayaknow, the geisha were now happy to show themselves. I hope that helps you Dru32.

    Nice

I'm hoping to create nodachi-wielding geisha. Megami no Ken (Goddesses of the Blade).

Also some bow wielding ones - Musume no Shashu (Daughters of the Bow)

And I probably should rename "Miko Shashu" to "Miko no Shashu"

Anton, are you exporting and then importing the model files, renaming them and references them in the uniforms db?
If so, what pack file contains the models?

I extracted the geisha atlas set and the geisha 2 unit variant file, renamed the 'geisha' part of the file names and packed it up. Examples would be better than words in this case. Here's the link to the unit I screenshot'd before: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/attac...7&d=1316271916

Have a good look at all the stuff in the 'variantmodels > units' filepath of the .pack file.

Did you actually edit the variant file paths? PFM seems to have issues properly opening those files. I'll take a look at the screens tonight, work doesn't let me open rar files....

No. I renamed the unit variant file itself, not its contents. After all, I wanted alternate access to original content, rather than changing that original content.

Hmmm. I will look more into it. Where did you find the unit varients for the agents?

Is there no "battle"-like model for the metsuke?

Because IIRC, there is such a model in one of the campaign intros, I think it was for Tokugawa.

Can that nowhere be found to be used?

I found the geisha unit variants but no where in atlas is metsuke

the metsuke atlas is under campaign_special. Along with monks and a few other units.
