What you mean anything goes? You fight and die with honor, win or lose, unless it was a total bs thing that happened for some stupid reason, then its ok to get mad -Leon
You make yourself believe that you are going to win then i does not matter how large the enemy force is, your unshakeable confidence will make sure that you find the tactic which is the best to use
Vae victus- woe to the vanguished
I usually know when I'm gonna lose when my brother has picked an army of only Armoured Elephants....those beasts are unstoppable...I usually don't care about winning or losing...
then i understand...you are right those beasts are unstoppable, if you face an army that only consists of such units your only option is to surrender
Vae victus- woe to the vanguished
The mood at the begining of a battle is often misleading. It is only the mood that is set when the forces have clashed that matters.
I've won 1 of the battles against my brother today . I had a city and my brother forgot to choose infantry to get rams and stuff. So the elephants were just 1 by 1 attacking the gate (there was no room for 2 attacking elephants) so they went running amock and perished.Originally Posted by Pandora
The other day I played BI against a friend. I chose an army of one general and the rest lombard beserkers, while he chose a rather balanced saxon force. I won, but only had my general and three of his men left, just goes to show how precarious armies like that are.
Garbarsardar has been a dapper chap.
i another way to defeat a hole army of armoured elephants is u could make a circle of spartens lets say 10 in a circle then put another 10 on top of then, i know its sad but honestly its the only easy way, also onagars work pretty well against themOriginally Posted by HappeR

My onagers tend to miss all the time
The onagers don't really need to hit the elephants, they just need to land close enough to be seen, and then they can start running amok.Originally Posted by HappeR
Personally, when I know am about to lose, I make it my goal to kilkl as many enemies as I can before I die. Usually I take the high ground or some other terrain advantage and hold it. Make the enemy fight me on my terms. By using the terrain to my advantage I can destroy a much larger force than I would have been alble too on even ground.

you could just charge them with cavalry as well but then you will have to be prepared that you will lose many good soldiers, soldiers that you might need in later battles so an encircling tactic with hoplites is probably the best choice

Nice sig mate.

I don't think there is any unfairness in RTW...well exept for elephant only armies...the rest is counter-able...
