Weird cartoonish crown...

I never really look at officers in units because I play RTW for the enjoyment of gameplay rather than graphics.

Yet viewing Infernocanuck's renowned LP, I noticed the Persian king has a crown straight out of cartoons about medieval kings - golden, tiara type, with triangular cuts.


Is this some elaborate trolling?

The bold part is logical, at least - "tiara" is Persian in origin

I'd actually suggest the crown to have more metallic skins, give the red curve more (or reduce green and blue curve), also add gloss maps to give it shiny appearance , and oh, the scale armour need that too

from the yellowish colour, we can guess it's actually gold-coated steel, befit of royalty, gold coatings are pretty old arts actually

Steel? Steel was invented in Greece, around that time. I doubt Persians could have had it.

High carbon steel was invented around 300 BC in India, the technique got imported to the middle east and gained to name: Damascus Steel by westerners because they were peticuliar good at making steel that was emmensely strong...

There was something called Noric steel, used by the romans around 100 BC, but it was not as good nor as well balanced in the Iron/carbon balance as the Indian/Damascine steel...
