How do you remove the Unlawful Territory attribute on regions of the HRE?

Do you need the region to become a core province?

Yes you do, alternatively you can leave the HRE and also make the provinces leave the HRE and never see the unlawful territory modifier again.

If you're a non-HRE member, just make sure you have negative relations with the Emperor and a magistrate for each province you conquer. Then just instantly remove them all. No negative event, no unlawful territory, just bad relations with the Emperor.

On a completely unrelated note, Rebel force conversion is a great way to spread your religion if you dont have Missionaries

This random post brought to you today by Mutapa and its abuse of rebel support to spread Animalism amoungst the tribals.

If you want a really gamey religion trick. Provinces that are converted from a Pagan religion to a non-Pagan one change to your primary culture. So what you can do, is grab a territory that is animist. Stick a missionary there and put maintenence on minimum. When pagans appear, let them move to a neighbouring province to "spread" paganism. Eventually you can then stick maintenence on max and begin conveting these provinces, and boom, more primary culture provinces.

It's worth noting that with the Americas this trick is fairly redundant since there's a decision for non-American based nations to convert culture of small provinces. However, Samogita in Europe starts Animist, as does a territory or two in what is now Burma. One of the Russian colonies also might start off animist, but you'd have to resist sticking any colonists there and when rebels occupy the province they'll likely cause enough population damage to revert it back to a colony.

    Nice! =P

Also im 1 more provinces from converting Swahili to Animalism without using a single Missionary, Adal shall be next!
ALSO it allows for continual abuse of Religious Liberation.

And for one more final abuse, those animalist rebels eventualy convert to soldiers of said nation but wont attack your troops, thus you can convert your enemys entire army to friendly troops that can only occupy provinces for there new nation.

Edit: Almost all the way to Egypt is Animalist now

Tribal Successions don't just cause pretenders.

And you can just keep a couple large armies and not set your leader as a general. It's been shown that that decreases his life. Theres no way to stop them completely without changing your government.

I keep getting it, then a few seconds later i auto lose, causing half my territories to go to another nation or reform an old one....

I havent had my leader as general in my current game which helped a bit, i could keep swahili as a vassal to avoid this but i want all there territory damn it!!

Currently had my second succession, swahili reformed completely, though i still have Adal and Ethiopia as vassals so it shouldnt be hard to retake it all if it wasnt for the god damn auto-truce when the formed.

Tribal succession crisis occurs on monarch death for any tribal nation if they have >10 provinces (not sure if it applies if you have exactly 10). There's no way to stop it from happening other than getting out of Tribal forms of Government. Just kill the rebels.

The Tribal Republics (I think that's what they're called) don't get them either. As far as I know the Native American nations are the only ones with that Gov. type.

Its difficult to kill the rebels when you have no forts

Ive been trying an alternative method of vassalising Swahili until i can change gov type, then forced annexation.

whats a good way to fight Castille?
My Byzantine Empire game (the 40th odd one ), ive just reformed the Theme System after annexing the remaining Ottoman territories only to be instantly gang attacked by about 20 European nations and the Timurids.

Managed to peace most of them except for the Timmurids and Castille as none had any significant Navy capabilities so were wiped out with little fuss. The problem being Castille has a huge arse navy and is capable of deploying 15k stacks via ship, so i cant force a peace
