I've ran into LET, and I must say, well done dev team.

With my naivite I thought owning all Greece and Anatolia would make me set for monnies indefinitely. However, such childish notions have been crushed without mercy. To my astonishment, I cannot afford to build every building I want, rather I have to prioritize. Supporting two good stacks is ...gasp ... still difficult. Hiring Merc's is a tough decision. The threat of losing trade rights/revenue due to war actually looms over my plans of conqest. In short my economy still matters past the early game.

I suppose its a "removing money from player" script. It doesnt work that way though, its very calculated and we take into account how far into the campaign you are. We target trade and tax revenue, and make sure to simulate the effects on corruption in your kingdom.

It definitely is not scripted! Using scripts to solve the "the late campaign is easy"-issue would be unbalanced and like a cheating way to hide (ie, not solve) the problem. This is a system that builds up very slowly as you start expanding (already if you take your second region, starting as city state) and becomes more noticeable when you get ever bigger. It really only is clever coding in the EDB that makes all of this happen, which also makes it much more dynamic and controllable. There's not a single line of script involved.
