    Hey guys,

first of all i wanna thank you, the team, for this master piece of art. I installed the game 1minute ago and i'm fascinated! Again, thank you!

But i have a question, is there anything being planned to expand the campaign map?

Thanks and have a nice saturday =)

(Edit 1 & 2 solved: I closed the background script So i restarted the game and it works )

Edit: I cannot finish the turn. i have played before and saw a script movement and i saved after it. now i began a new campaign, cause i switched the unit size to huge. Could it be that?

edit2: My save game is lost, i cant open the city roll, the recruitment rolle and i cant finish the turn. I think because i didnt see the scripted movement.

Would it be possible to release a non .exe version of the mod so that we mac users could also try RTR:VII? I really like PE, and would like to try to install this version as well.

If I'm right this is the RTR VII folder, add it to your RTW directory and after creating a shortcut you should be able to play the mod

    Download!

Hey guys, i've just downloaded the setup.exe file, and it's automatically extracting to local disk D, which doesn't have enough space. I've tried going into Regedit to chance the save destination to disk C, but no luck. How can I change where the setup tries to extract?

I don't mean to ruin the parteh here, but it might be a good idea to add the hotfix to the OP here... it's not like I didn't find it, but it might be useful to have all link in one main thread.

Sounds like you didn't start the script. My advice would be to start a new game, and after the initial scripted battles start the script by selecting a settlement. Let us know how you fare, and if you have any other issues please let us know.

After I added the 2 patches, the game runs perfectly fine now -heavily lagged sometimes, but without any issues-
Thank you so much, it is by far the best mod I have seen, with amazing accuracy, not only for a mod, but for a game too. I had to do some small changes in some settlement/region names, in order to be more precise. e.g Pydna was not the most important city at the time, but Dion in the region of Pieria in S.Macedonia, Dyme and Sikyon were in the region "Achaea", Cyme is missing from Euboea (very very important city), while the city of Phalara in Thessaly, Greece was not in existance any more by 280BC as it was destroyed in 426 BC by earthquake and abandoned. Important is also that Carthago Nova was not even created by that time, but 80 years after, so it should not exist, while the names are mixed in english, latin, etruscan, doric, ionic, aetolian dialects and I had to give a common line (Ionic dialect for all settlements as it was the most influential dialect at the time)
As a historian I must say that what these guys have done, is amazing.

Thanks for the compliments. We've recently discovered that the set-up of the map could be more accurate for 280 BC, and have started work to apply some needed changes to it

Oh, you and your team, certainly deserve something more than simple compliments for this creation.
I have studied both ancient greek and latin, while I teach academic history in the university. Conciser my self available for any assistance to future fixes on the mod, or other mods that concern this era as I specialize in the Hellenistic period.
Considering the correct spelling of the greek names in latin alphabet, I'll briefly give a short list:

Example purely greek words in the english lang. on diphthongs:

    Ch, ch - H, h e.g Chamaeleon (chameleon) & Helicopter
    Ph, ph - F, f e.g Philipp & Frantic
    Th, th - T, t e.g Theory & Teresa
    Rh, rh - R, r e.g Rhythm & Roof

The hellenic language has some rules about toning, but the first and most unbreakable one is that everything takes a diacritic. They are not there for fun, they are not there for decoration. Diacritics stand to show how a word, phthong, or even a letter must be pronounced.
I have no desire of overloading you with a massive brainstorming, so cutting to the chase, we have the
Rough and Smooth Breathings or Dasỳ Pneûma (lt. Spiritus Asper) and Psilòn Pneûma respectively.
The most important of those two, is the Dasia one which is being applied to almost 15% to 25% of the all hellenic words that do take a spirit diacritic.
Naturally, the next question is what words take a spirit. Answer to this is, all that start with a vowel.
Even more naturally comes the next inquiry of which ones take the Dasỳ Pneûma, and which the Psilòn one. That is indeed a difficult issue. Having to skip the complete answer that would need at least twenty paragraphs for me to explain and you to learn, memorize and remember, I will give a small tip, that helps to almost 80% of the cases, and through that hint you will see why there are these diphthongs and double sound letters in the english language.
In the majority of the hellenic words that do take a Dasỳ Pneûma there is the possibility to alternate the word by adding a prefix, as in any other word. The difference here is that if the last consonant of the prothem (first word) is one of Κ, κ ~ Π, π ~ Τ, τ (eng. K, k - P, p - T, t) then we have exalipsis (subtraction) of the last vowel of the first word and afterwords the prefix adds up to the first vowel of the main word. What is the headache here though, is that those three consonants Κ, κ ~ Π, π ~ Τ, τ (eng. K, k - P, p - T, t) do not remain as they are, but they alternate to Χ,χ ~ Φ,φ ~ Θ,θ (Ch - Ph - Th).
As we can easily see, all these diphthongs have something in common: the letter H, h. This is happening because in western Peloponnesus, they (Achaeans) were speaking a mixed dialect of the Dorian, Aeolian and late Pelasgian ones, that had as a rule that every word starting with a vowel and took Dasỳ Pneûma had the letters Η,η and Σ,σ in front of the word.

    e.g

    Dorian ΗΕΛΕΝΕ (pron. Ielene) ->
    Aeolian ΗΕΛΕΝΗ (pron. Ieleni) ->
first Ionic HἙΛΕΝΗ (pron. I-Eleni) ->
    Ionic ΕΛΕΝΗ (pron. Eleni) ->
    Mdrn. eng. Helen.

(The word kept its Doric origin to its final modern english form due to the relationships between western Peloponnesus and Magna Grecia (Great Greece / Italy) where the Latins took it and added it up to the latin language)

Since then the letter Η,η and Σ,σ remained to all of the words that were taking Dasỳ Pneûma in north - northwestern Europe, even though both Greeks and Romans canceled their use, with the Greeks using a more accurate and complicated system of multitonisation, and the Romans by abandoning it completely.

    Examples of Dasỳ Pneûma use:

    ἅγιος → hagiography, hagiology, hagiographer
    Ἅδης → hadean, hadopelagic
    ἁδρός → hadron, hadrosaurus
    αἷμα → hemophilia, hemorrhage

    Examples of Psilòn Pneûma use:

ἀ negative, non- → adiabatic, agnostic, ahistorical, amoral...
    ἄβαξ → abacus, abaculus
ἄβυσσος → abyss, abyssal, abyssocottidae, abyssopelagic
    ἄγαλμα → agalmatolite, agalmatophilia
    ἀγαθή → agate, agathodaemon
    ἀγάπη → agape, agapanthus, agapanthaceae

That is the reason why we use today the diphthongs Ch - Ph - Th in the english language, for hellenic originated words with the use of Dasỳ Pneûma while for words that they were taking the Psilòn Pneûma we have simply phonetic / letter matches. ( H - F - T )

almost all the words that start with an ¨ H , h ¨ , ¨ S, s ¨ followed by a vowel, are for hellenic words that include the Dasia tone (Spiritus Asper) symbolized as ` and it´s purpose in the hellenic language is to show that a very light inhale of H, or S is supposed to be pronounced.

    e.g
    Heracles - ρακλῆς (pron. Iraklís)
    Hermes - ρμῆς (pron. Ermís)
    History - στορία (pron. Istoría)

The reason here of this application is the Perispomeni (Περισπωμένη) tone over the letter Eeta (Η, η) which later preveiled in the massive majority of any Hellenic term that had the letter Η, η and could be found in the english language. Result to that is today all the hellenic words that are being written with Η, η to be written in english with E, e.
As well it´s plural epithem ΟΙ, οι is written the same

    e.g

hegemony - γεμονία (pron. Igemonía )
Herodotus - ρόδοτος (pron. Iródotos )
hero - ρως (pron. Íros )
hedonism - δονισμός (pron. Idonismós )
    etc.

Relating to the rest of the vowels that sound as E, e (Ι, ι Η, η Υ, υ Οι, οι Ει, ει) there is also an absolute harmony with the english language. For example the diphthong Οι , οι in the hellenic language is always OE , oe in the english one when the diphthong takes the dasia tone.

    e.g

Philopoemen - Φιλοποίμην (pron. Filopímin )
    Oedipus - Οιδίπους (pron. Idípus)
    Oeagrus - Οίαγρος (pron. Ìagros)
    Poem - Ποίημα (pron. Píima)

In the same family, belongs also the diphthong ΑΙ , αι that in the english language is written Ae , ae and is being pronounced E as in hell.

    e.g

    Aesthetic - αἰσθητικός (pron. esthitikós)
    Aegis - αἰγίς (pron. egís)
    Aether - αἰθήρ (pron. ethír)
    Aegean - Aἰγαῖο (pron. Egéo)
    Caesar - Καῖσαρ (pron. Késar)
    Gaea - γαῖα (pron. Géa)

An extra rule that help detecting hellenic words in the english language is the about the epithem -US , -us.
All terms that finish on -us, are the latin based loan for the hellenic saffix -ΟΣ , -ος (-OS , -os ).
The reason that this occurs is that in the hellenic language declensions are far more accurate and complicated, a thing that forced the latin world to use only the genitive case that for hellenic names finishes on ΟΥ , ου ( U , u ) plus the final Σ , ς ( S , s ) that hellenic words when used in the nominative case.

    e.g

    Julius - Ιούλιος (pron. Iúlios)
    Gaius - Γάϊος (pron. Gáios)
    Bacchus - Βάκχος (pron. Vákhos)

Following the same path, all latin based words that are actually of hellenic loan that finish on UM , um meet their true origin on the suffix ΟΝ , ον.

    e.g

    centrum - κέντρον (pron. kéntron)
    cranium - κρανίον (pron. kraníon)
    aluminium - αλουμίνιον (pron. alumínion)
    Tarentum - Τάραντον (pron. Táranton)

In the most cases, there are also simple simulfixions for some certain letters. Quickly pass through my mind the relationship of:

    Β , β (pron. V , v ) to B , b
    Κ , κ to C , c
    Φ , φ (pron. F , f ) to PH , ph.

    e.g

    Bacteria - Βακτήρια (pron. Vaktíria)
Cephalic - Κεφαλίς (pron. Kefalís) note that in some exceptions, the letter C , c stands for the final S , s of some hellenic words, so it´s being pronounced as ¨S¨
Philippus - Φίλιππος (pron. Fílippos) modern english: Phillip

Now I face a weird problem Suddenly the game can not be saved, while it could before. Please note that both patch 2a.rar (non-save compatible) & RTRVII-2 Hotfix170312.rar. (save compatible) are added.
    What should I do?

This problem is caused when you quit a campaign without terminating the background script and then start a new game or load an existing one. In that case you will not be able to save the game. There are two solutions for this issue:

    1. Quit to desktop after playing one campaign, launch RTR again before starting another one.
    2. Terminate the script after playing a campaign by hitting the '?' button (in the top left corner of the menu) before quitting a campaign. You will now be able to start/load another one and reactivate the script by clicking on a settlement.

I hope that this will help you

Ok, I don't know what is going on here, but this seems pretty weird. I uninstalled the game in order to install a clean vanilla and download RTRVII again. this time what happens is that the first three mirrors ''are corrupted'' and the setup would open at all. The last two mirrors open the setup, start the installation procedure and after all the wait, comes a message that nothing was installed, press finish and do it again. This has happened 4-5 times now, and many many hours are waisted in this.
Is it possible to have some full explained assistance on the issue?

Ok, some of the issue is solved. I will explain again what has happened once more, so the other readers can see what can cause a problem. I have had a ''Vanilla RTRVII'' version installed and after I added the two patches. The game run and all seemed fine, I saved and did my things and bla bla. The next day I tried to start with another faction to see what is different, when I noticed that I could not save. I run back here at once and I saw that the 1st patch was not save compatible. I asked in the forum, and the RTR leader Maurits very kindly responded, but I had already uninstalled all the files (vanilla+RTRVII+ 2 patches) in order to re-install Vanilla and RTRVII after, without the patches. There showed up two problems:
    1) The file from the first 4 mirrors, would not open at all, as it was "corrupted" while
    2) The file that was opening and running the installation, after all the process, would say at the end that the installation was not done, to click the "Finish" box, and do the process again. This was driving me crazy. So the problem is (if we talk for Steam version): That Steam keeps in the code -mod:RTRVII -show_err -nm in the game's preferences, even if you uninstall and reinstall everything, preventing the RTRVII installation. In other words, if you re-install the Vanilla, take off the code before you run the RTRVII set-up.

Now with this problem solved, my question is:
If we install the 2 patches, will we be able to save and load the game after?

A game started with the latest patch installed should be 'loadable'. A game started with the RTR VII 1.0 version will not work with the RTR VII 1.2.x patch.

I'm having some issue with this mod, I installed it in the steamapps/common/Rome Total War Gold folder and changed the launch options. But when I go to my steam library and choose to open Barbarian Invasion it just launches the vanilla version of Total War (not Barbarian Invasion or the mod).

    Any thoughts?

did you added the code in the extra options?
Important is also to launch the game via the Steam meny, klik play BI and it should work (?). Do not launch from the RTW icon or desktop shortcut
