Default The civilization (?) of Rome and Greece

Now days in west when we talk about a civilization they will try to display the the Roman and Greek civilizations only . And if someone ask for older civilizations they will introduce the civilizations of Egypt , Sumer , Babylon ,Assyria and ... .
Now let us take a look to these civilizations who they are trying to display !
They are speaking about democracy in ancient Greece and of course democracy in a Greek word while the number if slaves was even more than the normal citizens in ancient Greece !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How could we the Greek civilization the burn place of democracy while the number of slaves was more than the normal citizens on it ? A slave didn't had any thing for himself and even his life was belonged to his master !!!!!!!
The Greek's slavery was not only for physical goals !!!! : sexual exploitation from the slaves even from the children was usual in ancient Greece !
These ancient Greeks were always in war with each other and they didn't had mercy even for themselves !!!!!
They used to make the females of their enemies to slave after killing their enemies(even Greek) and used their children for their sexual goals and made them to slaves after their adolescence .
The Government of Athens didn't had any ability to trail somebody for killing the other's slave !The Government of Athens didn't considered any option for the slaves .
What is different between what the Greeks used to do and what the Ottoman empire did ? NOTHING!
And also the females didn't had any option to vote in this democracy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Iranians rarely used to loot a city but they did never do these crimes !!!
How could a normal human call the Greek civilization the burn place of culture while there isn't any thing but war and killing and looting and ... in its history !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They enlarged Greece to miniaturize the Achaemenid Iran .
No body can comparison the Iranian's international empire with those little Greek cities that were in war with each other !!!!!
The Achaemenid empire was the only power of that days and the slogan of "one government one nation one king" was really applied there .
any way the Achaemanid empire that had all of the civilization of that days under its banner destroyed and any empire will be destroyed one day soon or late .
A new age began's . This time the war was not between a powerful empire and a number of cities but between two powerful empire's .(Iranians-Romans)
These two powers were in war with each other for more than 700 years .In this 700 years Iranians planted a plant of fear the hart of Romans :
We should look at the amazement and bravery of Iranians they , reliance to their bravery , defeated their powerful enemies and brought them into their kingdom , even the roman empire in its glory times , attacked the Iranian's empire and shattered . Iraninas are the only people who are equal to Romans
and even better than them . (Latin Marcus Junianius justinus )
there is also a queto from ammianus marcelius that i hope every body will know that

So, a thread of a Persian nationalist aimed against the Greeks and the Romans.

Whoever has a good and neutral view of history will admire both the Achamenid Persia and the Greco-Roman civilizations, everyone else has a clear propagandistic agenda.

Let's move to the next thread.

Not true at all. when i picture "Civiliazation" I think of Rome, Greece, Egypt, Sumeria, Persia, Assyria, Judea, armenia, India, China and so many others not just the two western civilizations. thats more than a handful of mighty eastern civs you seem to have forgotten. hell mesopotamia is probably the place that inspired the mythic garden of Eden how can you forget the cradle of "Civilization".

I also like how you mention slaves being mistreated and abused sexually in greece but you seem to forget that the God King Darius had two slaves to have sex with for every day of the year. so some nights he probably had twice as much fun.

btw if you got done massacring a enemy that you were at war with for several years don't tell me you would'nt relish in taking them and thier family in as slaves and sex with thier smokin hot sister. lol

The Iranians rarely used to loot a city but they did never do these crimes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes they did. every single one of them.

any way the Achaemanid empire that had all of the civilization of that days under its banner destroyed and any empire will be destroyed one day soon or late .
not really sure what this means.

Both the Achaemenid Empire and the ancient Greek civilization were important. However it was the Greek and Roman civilizations that helped shape the western world and its values. The Persian civilization was important in shaping the Islamic civilizations, though. As for democracy, it was certainly an ancient Greek achievment, despite any inequalities that were present. The basic ideas and principals were conceived back then, not to mention the development of philosophy, science and arts. Now as for some nations being superior than others all I can say is that nationalistic ideas won't help you get any respect except among other nationalists.

All societies have their good and bad points. Only the most ignorant or nationalistic person would try to portray ancient Greece as some sort of utopia. Slavery and endemic warfare plagued the country. However, that does not take from the accomplishment of the Athenians and other city-states in creating pluralistic republics with large polities. That was a significant achievement, even though other aspects of Greek society were nothing to be proud of.

Persia was the first major tolerant, multicultural empire and it achieved much in the way of human rights and women's rights. In contrast, Persia was ruled by an all-powerful emperor such as was not found in Greece. There is much to admire in Persia, but it was not a perfect utopia, just like Greece was not.

okay sorry, didn't see this, my eyes just ran all the lines together since there is no punctuation. and with this line you seem to dispel your original point that there are only two civilizations rome and greece.?!?!

Persia had plenty of impact in the western world as well. Zoroastrianism influenced Judaism and Christianity, and Medieval chivalric culture owed a great deal to Iranian culture. Persian art also greatly influenced Greek and Medieval European art.

Well, let's say that these civilizations sort of synergized off each other, but that the western side of the western side Bosphorus became rather more concerned with individuality as opposed to being just a nameless cypher serving the State, and that self-interest ensured they weren't anxious to extend the privileges of citizenship beyond a select group.

Greek warfare is savage yet disciplined because the Greek city states had a very limited window for warfare and needed to force a decision, shaped by the doctrine and armaments they had available. Extending this beyond their traditional borders, gave their armies an advantage against less dedicated troops. Their culture also permitted capable men to rise to positions of command.

I'm biased by three millenia of western European culture, so yes I think history allowed the more appropriate one to flourish.

Somebody make a jpeg of Alexander the Great and the text reading "umad?" please please please.

On a serious note, I don't know where you get your "facts" from. That there were more slaves in Greece than actual Greeks for one stuck out right away. Even Rome at its peak of slave use I think was only 1 in 4. Either way whatever credibility your arguments may have had, all just went down the pipe.
    "Mors Certa, Hora Incerta."

"We are a brave people of a warrior race, descendants of the illustrious Romans, who made the world tremor. And in this way we will make it known to the whole world that we are true Romans and their descendants, and our name will never die and we will make proud the memories of our parents." ~ Despot Voda 1561

"The emperor Trajan, after conquering this country, divided it among his soldiers and made it into a Roman colony, so that these Romanians are descendants, as it is said, of these ancient colonists, and they preserve the name of the Romans." ~ 1532, Francesco della Valle Secretary of Aloisio Gritti, a natural son to Doge

I don't mean that Greeks or Romans were bad it is actually a question that why there isn't any focus on Persian civilization in west .
You can find hundreds of movies ,booksand ... in west about Romans but I can say that there's nothing about iranian civilization.
