Also I'm fairly sure Vladyvid will have told you this as well since we had the same issue with me not very long ago, but just to be certain I'll say it here, to join the social group you need 25 posts in these forums, so the sooner you get another 15 posts the better!
I decided to post a little preview - originally an internal preview from our social group, but decided to also put it here - having recently seen some map prieviews in other mods I just felt Im not any worse, so hey, why not?
For the people who haven't seen any earlier previews, aswell as for those who might be interested in another campaign map preview, here are the current developments in this field (the map is mostly done):
Campaign Map Update
Hi, first of all let me say that I've done hundreds of adjustments and minor changes of the campaign map - mostly in the south and east. I mean mostly changes in geography and details like rivers, lakes, hills, mountains etc. There are now also many new regions, especially in the south - for Dambrath, Halruaa and the Great Rift factions. There are additional regions in most parts of the map, apart from the north and west which already had more than enough variety.
I think adding some more regions could be possible, but I lack more sensible ideas ATM so I'm asking you guys for your suggestions.
To sum up the geography progression I guess that only some more variety in Halruaa, Estagund and Luiren will be necessary - which I'm going to do now. Then some minor details here and there like smooth transitions from one terrain to another. The rest looks good in my opinion.
I've changed some of the map textures too, trying to give the map a different feel, though it's still work in progress.
I'm aiming for a bit softer look than the vanilla.
I've also started adjusting regions religions (society) and correcting names for some regions (most of them are just called using the pattern city name_region). Regions ownership is not correct in every place so I'm aware of that but was focusing mostly on geography and prepairing regions for the new factions.
Wow! Thanks for the compliment! Though you are very kind to say so, it is still far from perfect. Anyways Im also some sort of a mamophile and its a very nice feeling after so many hours of map modding to see a comment like yours. Cheers!

But it's true: The map is great, especially the mountains.
I am probably jumping the gun a bit here but I just had the Baldur's Gate soundtrack on in the background and that got me thinking, are there any copyright issues about using things like the BG and NWN soundtracks in the mod?
I have no idea but I guess there must be some copy rights. I think music will come last so I wasn't really thinking about it that much. I have original versions of these games so will use their music for my personal version of the mod, or for the internal version that we will share, but for the realease version it will need to be checked.
The drow live undergroud and are sensitive to sunlight which makes it difficult to include them without breaking the lore in a very profound way.
However, we do have a faction that is very similar to drow, because it is mixed race and they look like a lighter skin version of the dark elves:
Like the drow they are ruled by women, they share a lot of their culture with the drow. This race is called the Crinti and the nation they rule is Dambrath.
Wow, and just wow! I can't believe somebody is actually doing this..., and great work so far! Thank you folks and best luck with the mod! Bookmarking this page as we speak.

Yup, BG for life mate.
The mod is progressing but without someone skilled with the units - skinning or modelling - the progress will be rather slow because Im a noob as far as the units modding is concerned and nobody else on our team is better than me at this. Will take time for me to learn things, so if any modders who are skilled at making units are looking for a mod to help, FaerunTW needs you!
I feel like such a nerd for thinking, "Isn't Chult supposed to be an island?" But of course your map takes place before the Spellplague. Anyway, back to Baldur's Gate I go.
