    Default RS2 Environments Mod with Heg beta 0.99!!Released!!

    Ok, here is the RS2 Environments mod compatible with Hegemonia City States BETA 0.99

    Installation

    1. Unzip and copy the "data" folder into the bi\hcs\data folder, when asked to overwrite click "Yes".
    2. unzip and Replace the map_climates.tga with the one in attachment (bottom of this post) into bi\hcs\data\world\maps\base

    Thats it start game and enjoy!

    Potadaia Custom Battle Map

    You need edit the entry in the custom_locations.txt file (in the data folder) so that the coordinates are (259 124) instead of (257 124) to play the map in Custom Battle. Thanks to justme for resolving this problem

    Will this mod cause battlefields to be more graphically intensive? I already have lag when fighting larger scale engagements and would like to avoid more.

    Play on smaller scale, or my advice to most people upgrade your PC if you wanna play these mods!

    a word of caution: in the zip file I see you've included the map_climates.tga in the base map folder... it's the climates file from the RS2 map and that may cause ...trouble

    Also, I suggest a delete map.rwm after you unzip the contents of the file in your data folder (Potidaia didn't crash for me )

    Ok, I tried the custom battle with the map.rwm removed and still I got the CTD where all the troops just die on opening scene in the Potidaia map?

    I also replaced the Hegemonia City States map_climates and that made no difference either, any other ideas I can try?, thanks

    yeah... just that.
    I don't know why you still get crashes - I just installed the heg beta, then download the "RS2_Environment_for_Hegemonia City States.rar", unzipped it into my bi/hcs/data folder MINUS the "world" folder, chose to overwrite, deleted my map.rwm (in bi/hcs/data.../base), fired up the heg beta and went straight for a custom battle in potidaia - no crash

    did I do something wrong (or right)???

    EDIT: GOT IT!!!

    I played the first battle with a settlement - and all was well, since the settlement provided a land square for the armies to fight on
    I tried it without a settlement - and my men appeared in the middle of the ocean! They drowned and "game over"

    Since I hadnt played potidaia in "vanilla" heg beta, I can't be 100% sure, but as I didn't change my base map folder, I'm half certain that it's just a matter of potidaia having been matched to wrong map coordinates in the custom_locations.txt file (the coordinates correspond to a sea square)

    If I'm right, there's nothing wrong with the RS2 environment addon! It's just a "vanilla" glitch!



    EDIT2: I just posted on the bugs thread about this...

    DON'T delete your map.rwm - not unless you make a backup of it.
    You will probably have problems starting a new campaign - the re-generated map.rwm presents some "misalignment" with the campaign's definition and I get kicked out to main menu...


    EDIT3:

    And one last edit - install heg beta, install RS2 environment addon MINUS the world folder; DON'T delete the map.rwm. If you want to play "potidaia" edit the entry in the custom_locations.txt file (in the data folder) so that the coordinates are (259 124) instead of (257 124). Everything else plays fine!

    Kudos to toon for the conversion (and RS2 for the art) - excellent job! Lovely environments for our heg hoplite battles!

    Ah damn!!! i deleted my map.rwm, I replaced the map.wrm and all working fine now mate +rep

    as things stand now - no it doesn't...
    but, I suggest you remove it; there are various modifications (usually of the map itself, but also some other cases) that require you to re-generate your map.rwm from the map files... if the map files aren't correct, either the map.rwm isn't generated or it will be "corrupt" (as it appears to be the case with the heg map files right now)

    for the time being, if you don't delete the map.rwm everything will be fine (that's why you didn't realize you had included the climates file for the RS2 map in your addon).
