    Name:
    Raoul Valjean
    Age: 27
Date of Birth: December 25th, 1765
    Marital Status: Single
    Children: None
    Home Riding: ???
    Noble titles: None
    Ethnicity: French
    Religious Views: Protestant (Huguenot)
    Class/background: Clergyman
    Biography:

Political beliefs: The good minister believes in reform through ideas and debate, rather than bloodshed. Convincing the government and the people of the benefits of republicanism is much more effective than killing all who disagree with you. Should worse come to worse, however, Valjean is willing to take up arms to defend his faith, his country, and his ideals.
The Monarchy - Abdication of the royal throne. Killing the king does not solve anything.
Taxation - Low in order to promote growth, but enough to have a functioning and efficient military.
Military - The military must be strong if it is to be able to defeat Britain, Prussia, or Austria.
The Economy & Trade - Free trade, where hard work and determination prevail over backdoor deals and government connections.
Foreign Policy - We should be a shining city on the hill for other republican causes; a bloodless revolution resulting in liberty for all. We must make allies if we are going to be able to keep this republic established however.
Disestablishment - Faith is the most important thing on this earth, but we must allow for varying beliefs, whether within Christianity itself, for the Jews, or for a foreign religion. It is not the government's place to decide what we should believe.
Suffrage - All male citizens of France over the age of 18 should be given the right to vote.

    Money: ???

Work in progress. I may switch to a businessman though.

    Name: Edouard Ziethen

    Age: 19
    Class: Revolutionary
    Ethnicity: French
    Religion: Protestant
    Social background: Urban Poor
    Biography:

    Political beliefs:
Edouard has a strong dislike for government, especially of monarchies. He hopes to give the power to all people, not simply the poor or the rich. He thinks that through the majority, the masses of the middle and poor, banding together, small sacrifices can be made to overthrown tyranny once and for all for their age and the next. Through constant studying, he has discovered the belief that the best way to do this would have to be through uprising against the adamant monarchy.
The Monarchy - As long as a monarchy exists, freedom cannot.
Taxation - Taxation must be little and spent wisely, not on the King's personal parties.
Military - The military must be large enough to defend France and it's people, but must work for the people.
The Economy & Trade - Free Trade will bring the poor out of their slums and help freedom spread across France as serfdom is wiped out.
Foreign Policy - Convince them otherwise through talk, though, if any soldiers set foot in France, they must be dealt with by whatever means necessary.
Disestablishment - Christians should band together, not under one denomination, but as one holy church. Being of Protestant faith, Ziethen hopes to free all of his brethren and unite all Christians as one. He hopes the church to be used as a means for salvation, not for political gain.
Suffrage -All should be able to vote, for no man is above another.

    Name: Wilhelm Wissemburg (Guillaume Wissembourg)
    Age: 41
Date of Birth: 18 November 1751
    Marital Status: Married
Children: Johann (Jean), 14 years old; Heinrich (Henry) 10 years old

    Class: General/Politician
    Noble titles: Not sure
Ethnicity: German born in French Alsace
    Home Riding: Northern Alsace
    Religion: Catholic
    Social background: Old Aristocrat/Soldier

    Biography:
Born to minor (but very wealthy) Franco-German nobility in the city of Wissembourg in Alsace, Wissemburg led an easy and charmed life. He grew up as most German boys do, learning to ride and to hunt as well as receiving classical tutoring in the sciences, mathematics, and several languages. From a tender age, however, he expressed a strong interest in the military. After finishing his primary schooling at the age of 18 his parents paid for his further education at a Prussian military academy. He graduated top of his class and, upon returning to France, received the position of Colonel and an entire regiment of his own to command. He served with honors under the comte de Rochambeau in the French expeditionary forces in the American Revolution and was raised to the position of brigadier. With the storm of revolution brewing across France, Wissemburg has seen fit to ally himself with the old regime, pledging his complete and undying allegiance to his roi.

    Political beliefs:
The Monarchy – Keep it in place at all costs!
Taxation – Low, but high enough to keep things running smoothly.
    Military – Keep it strong.
The Economy & Trade – Free trade is certainly worth a shot, but precautions should be taken.
Foreign Policy - Ally with all those who oppose the revolutionaries.
    Disestablishment – Never!
Suffrage - Would prefer not, but if it must be done reserved only for those "qualified." (Educated male landowners)

    Name: Sylvain Rochelle
    Age: 30
    Date of Birth: 1762
    Marital Status: Single
    Children: None
    Ethnicity: Occitanian
    Home Riding: Marseilles
    Class/Background: Soldier
    Religious Views: Catholic
Biography: Sylvain Rochelle was the son of a merchant in Marseilles, where he enjoyed a happy childhood and quality education. Finding himself bored with his father's business, he entered into the military when he came of age.

Thanks in equal parts to his father's wealth and his knack for tactical thinking, Sylvain earned himself a comission in the armies of the Old Regime, where he served in the staff of a general. He took his command during the waning years of the American Revolution, and was an ardent proponent of expanding the war with Britain, in particular an invasion of Ireland he had designed. When his superiors laughed at his "dandy dream", Sylvain threw a punch that broke the jaw of a superior.

After a brief trial, Sylvain was sent to prison for insubordination, with only a strategic "donation" by his father saving him from the gallows. He spent six years in a cell, where he obsessed over perfecting the invasion of Ireland that had sent him to his lock-up. During the agitation in 1789, Sylvain was freed when his prison was stormed by an angry mob.

    Name: Francois Beaulieu
    Age: 63
    Date of Birth: 1729
    Marital Status: Married.
    Children: Jean (24)
    Ethnicity: Swiss
    Home Riding: Lyon
    Class/Background: Soldier
    Religious Views: Roman Catholic
Biography: Beaulieu's original military experience was gained from attending a Prussian military academy and serving in the French King's Swiss Guard, Spain's Swiss Troops and other various Swiss regiments across Europe. He realized being a freelance mercenary was more profitable than being mere Majors and Colonels and desired his own army. When the American Revolution started, he was inspired by the Hessian example and their mercenary troops so Beaulieu created his own private army for the disposal of anybody who would pay. He served with the Russians, Austrians and various German states and for the Americans, who got a discounted price. With the French Revolution Beaulieu sees an oppertunity for profit fighting for the highest bidder, but he still remembers his days as an officer in the Garde Suisses and has some loyalties to the Kings of France. He also sees potential in profiting from warfare off the battlefield. Beaulieu as a general is all about discipline and presentation, then making sure his troops master drill. He is confident. He's distracted by money and over time has lost his moral compass in one of the wars against the Turks or some other enemy, making him ruthless and cold.
    Political Beliefs:
The Monarchy - The King is an old friend of mine, if the Revolutionaries were to win this war, I hope they keep him alive.
Taxation - Fairly low, but enough to keep Frace functioning.
Military - The military should be first rate and make use of foreign mercenaries. (Heh heh)
The Economy & Trade - I'm all for free trade as long as it doesn't affect my trade.
Foreign Policy - France must fight to regain colonial power and defeat its enemies.
    Disestablishment - No comment.
Suffrage - Everyone deservers the right to vote, don't they?

    Money: 5000

    Is everybody army men?

    Name: Aloys Alexis Dupont
    Age: 35
Marital status: Married to Charlotte Dupont (nee Le Blanc)
Children: Christophe (male, 13), Claudia (female, 10) and Elise (female, 7)
    Ethnicity: Angevin French
    Home riding: Anjou (Maine-et-Loire)
    Class/Background: Merchant/Businessman
    Religious Views: Catholic
Biography: Born as the second out of four sons to a wealthy but non-aristocratic merchant family in western France, Dupont enjoyed a relatively happy childhood, a decent upbringing and an equally decent education. However, what did annoy him quite a bit was the condescension showed toward him by the children of Angevin nobles who his father had befriended, as well as the vast luxury and (to him) impossibly high social status enjoyed by these noble families, which even his self-made father admitted would be impossible for the Duponts, being a 'low-born' bourgeois family with no aristocratic blood in their veins as far as he knew, to attain 'under present conditions'. Refusing to believe this, Dupont actively worked to rise in social standing, first setting up his own successful wine business, and later marrying the third daughter of a prominent local aristocrat, a Vicomte Le Blanc (albeit a member of the 'noblesse de robe', who outright bought his position).

The coming of La Revolution was greeted not with anxiety, terror or loathing by Dupont, but with opportunism. He saw it as his chance to ascend to the top of the social ladder, while simultaneously screwing over the arrogant aristocrats who annoyed and embarrassed him in the past, and plans on knocking down said ladder once he has what he wants so he can point at all those aristocrats in their 'secret tree fort' and tell them he did them such a favor, that the only way they can thank him properly is by letting him into their club. While he declares himself a 'moderate' in French politics, he is only ever truly out for number one.

    Political beliefs:
The Monarchy – Louis XVI is too much of a liability to back in these times has lost the faith of the people, and is therefore unfit to rule. A constitutional monarchy should be restored under his son, the boy Prince Louis instead, with a Regent wielding discretionary powers in these trying times to watch over him until he comes of age of course...
Taxation – Whatever is needed to defend France.
Military – It should be as strong as needed at the time.
The Economy & Trade – French businesses but especially his own should be protected against foreign depredations.
Foreign Policy - Ally with whoever serves his France's interests at the time.
Disestablishment – Absolutely not yet anyway, the Church is too valuable as a political tool er, a pillar of French society, morality and national identity in no particular order.
Suffrage - Absolutely...with reasonable wealth requirements to make sure the bluebloods don't have all the fun, and the imbecilic riffraff can't get in.

    Name: Claude Fauchet
    Age: 48
Date of Birth: 22 September 1744
    Marital Status: Single
    Children: None
    Ethnicity: French
    Home Riding: Nièvre
    Class/Background: Clergyman
    Religious Views: Catholic
Biography: Claude was born in Dornes, Nievre, a province in Central France. He became a Curate to the Church of St Roch, in Paris. He worked frequently with the old nobility - being a tutor to the children of the Marquis du Choisuel, a grand vicar to the Archbishop of Bourges, a Preacher to the King and Abbot of Montfort-Lacarre.

The philosophic tone of his sermons caused his dismissal from court in 1788 before he became a popular speaker in the Parisian sections. He was one of the leaders of the attack on the Bastille, and on 5 August 1789 he delivered an eloquent discourse by way of funeral sermon for the citizens slain on the 14th of July, taking as his text the words of St Paul, "Ye have been called to liberty".

He entered politics, using his popularity and friends to enter the sacred halls of the Social Club, a promient republican political group, which he rose to become a leading figure. His brand of Evangelical Republicanism proves very popular with the people, in particular the peasentry. Despite his past connections he is no friend of the nobility.

    The Monarchy - Imprison them.
Taxation - Moderate, Enough to fund the Army and the State.
Military - Expand to keep our freedom safe.
The Economy & Trade - Protect French industries and trade.
Foreign Policy - Conquer all those who oppose liberty!
Disestablishment - Religion should remain, and work with the Republic!
Suffrage - Suffrage for French men, and preferably Catholic too.
