Fainting from fear or shock makes a lot more sense than being knocked out due to blunt trauma.
And it certainly looked like Loras.

It's up to the director to create a plausible suspension of disbelief, you can't just have a bunch of stuff that makes no sense and then claim suspension of disbelief. You have to create an agreeable environment where the viewer is not consciously doubting or questioning your directorial choices.

EPISODE 9 SPOILER AHEAD!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Such a great episode.
Mate, it was... That was Ser Loras Tyrell, the Knight of the Flowers, Third son of Mace Tyrell, the Lord of Highgarden and Warden of the South. It was him.
I think they changed actor from the first seaosn, though. In the books it was Ser Garlan Tyrell who lead the charge in Renly's armor.

Tywin is such a badass. I'm looking forward to him having some scenes in King's Landing. I just saw Charles Dance in a comedic role as a king in the movie Your Highness, it seemed so wrong and awkward seeing him smiling and doing comedy when I'm so used to his character in GoT.
Except all those people willing to support Renly over him. And all those people Stannis himself constantly whines about not loving him. Also all those people who never supported him. A few other people who ask high tolls for loyalty kinda count.
Well that's most everyone.
It happened in the books. A huge, green explosion from an empty ship full of wildfire, that engulfed a dozen ships and knocked Davos off board. In the books the fire continued spreading, down river, which meant doom to all the ships that had passed the chain.
Not all. Stannis's own men are loyal to him, because they know he's a badass. See Davos.
Yeah, you can really see the difference in points of views between Davos, Melisandre and Jon, Theon. Jon finds him demanding, and Davos idolizes him. I love that he is that way, though. Not all men are perfect, but those are flaws you can live with.
He did get men to chant "Stannis! Stannis! Stannis!" for him...
