Did they get a new guy to play Gregor Clegane? The huge guy who was talking to Tywin?
Really they could have done the Ygritte/Jon as it was in the book, we've barely had any Qhorin on screen.

Yeah the old guy got booted for some reason. He was a way better mountain though.
I have come to the conclusion that it was too early for this series to be made. They should have waited five years or gotten a bigger budget because the cuts and shortcuts are getting downright annoying not to mention blatantly obvious. I will still follow of course but I no longer enjoy the show as the great hour of television it ought to be.
The actors in some cases are very well cast (Arya, Tyrwin, Tyrion, John, perhaps Dany as well) , but the fault lies with the direction and the design departments. They seem completely unable too keep track of what is described in the books.

I understand that many things need to be changed in order to change flow or sequence of events to more "fluid" so that it fits the medium better, characters need to be cut, other characters need to be given more screen time etc, and most of the time I try to trust the people making the series that they know what they are doing and usually they seem to. But sometimes I can't but wonder "why the hell did they have to change that?" Like for example Stannis putting Davos in charge of the fleet. Sure a small change, but why change it from the books?
Ahem, actually in the books Stannis puts Davos in charge of the fleet.

Well, I stand corrected.

I guess the point was to show that Stannis trusts Davos above anyone else, and lords who feel insulted having to take orders from an upstart can get stuffed. But since there are going to be more seasons they could have that relationship develop as in the book. It's not big a thing at all, but why change it?
On the other hand the changes to the "Dany does nothing in Qarth" storyline and changes to the character of Xaro are an improvement, to say nothing about the interaction between Arya and Tywin.
I remember someone else being in charge of the naval fleet at the battle as well? I can only imagine the writers cut them so there be less characters for TV viewers to follow but to make Davos a tactical fool would be foolish for the writers to do.
I really ing hope they spent every last penny on this battle because if it isnt even slightly ing awesome then this season and all the cut plotlines and characters would have been for naught.
The Florents (one of which was in charge of the fleet) will eventually play a major role moving forward. You'll remember that the Florents are Stannis' wife's family. Although they sided with Renly at first.
Talisa > Ygritte
