Thread: Let's Play Together! Campaign Part 11 up

Icon7 Let's Play Together! Campaign Part 11 up

    Hi everybody,
I'd like to announce that I have just started a new Let's Play video series of a Mori campaign.
To give the whole thing a little twist, I'm planning to play this against everybody who is interested - by playing my battles as dropins

My plan right now is to put up two videos a week: one with the campaign which will end with the pre-battle screen, and then one with the actual battle played against one of you dropping in. This may change throughout the campaign as I get into several battles per round and whatnot, but I'll see what I'll do about that when I get this far.
I can't guarantee that the battles that pop up will be balanced; in fact, if I'm not ahead at least slightly, I probably did something wrong in the strategy part . But the most unbalanced battles I'll autoresolve anyway, and I'm hoping I'll still find people who'll try to do as much damage to me as possible (unlike the AI ). I'll also not cheat by going AI for battles pitched against me. I may play some battles against the AI if they in my favor too much and wouldn't want to play them as dropins myself. Same if there are too few units involved; we want minimum epicness, right?

There will be clear attacker/defender roles, so if you're defending, camp away! As will I if I'm getting attacked. I'm playing with a battle timer of 40 minutes right now, but that's mostly to work around the AI's siege reinforcement bug; but most battles won't take longer than that anyway. Speaking of sieges, I'll only play those when balance of power is about 2:1 for the attacker.

I'm really excited to see how this will change the way the campaign plays out, and I'd love you to take part. I'd also like to encourage SP-only players to maybe try this as a first step into MP-dom.
If you are interested, join the Steam group Daniu's Enemies. Here I will post an Event when the next battle will take place.

And here is my first video of the series, the campaign part.
It pretty much consists of the same explanations and reflexively clicking the usual buttons to get the initial campaign going; but I'll be going more in-depth as the campaign progresses (and as I get used to this format ).
    Enjoy

Sounds interesting Daniu. Sadly, I can't participate due to time constraints but will be following how things progress to see if it's worth trying out

this actually makes me kind of excited to try drop in battles. I never thought of playing against the established player but I think it would be really fun to ruin someone's day. lol

Hehe, I think of it more as providing an actual challenge or at least bring some variety into how the battles play out.
Good to hear this might get people to try dropins, it really is fun. You can just watch my vids to see how it turns out, but don't be afraid to have a go yourself. The way I see it, with battles as pitched as the current one, there really is no need to feel pressured to actually win it; so nothing to be nervous about

I think I'll change the schedule though; after all, the sessions are rather short (and I already can't wait to play that battle ).
Not sure yet if I manage do three sessions a week (tue-thur-sat), but what I will do is continuing the campaign immediately after a battle until I get to the next one. This way I'll put up two vids on the days I play; I still haven't made up my mind whether to keep the campaign ones separate from the battles, what do you think? After all, people who only want to see the battles can just stop watching after it's finished.

Well that didn't work as I had hoped...
the people who had joined Daniu's Enemies couldn't join my game, no matter how hard we tried.

However, I did get someone else to join, and it turned out to be a really good battle

Watching the vid, I realized that I'm too concentrated during the battle itself.... next ones I'll record live and comment afterwards.
I also continued playing the campaign already and I've been turtling heavily, it's really not worth watching... I'll be editing some of it for the next episode.

Haha yeah was fun though... and sort of the point of the series.
After all, it's supposed to be more difficult by playing against humans; and I'm trying to show the only-SP people how different battles can go if you stop playing AI all the time.

I did continue my campaign now.

Maybe Normal difficulty wasn't such a good idea after all, the CAI lets me turtle as much as I want...
I edited out the repetitive parts, hope that works; let me know what you think.

New video up, commentary for the siege battle against Shimazu.
I had my invasion recruited to specifically counter the bow-heavy Shimazu army I had scouted in advance, but I never intended it to defend a castle against them... nor were the units appropriate for that...

This was a seriously bugged experience from the start.
I found my opponent without problems, but got desynched three or four times and had to restart over and over; with the long load times, it took us an hour to finally get to play properly.

What a suprise .. everyone know's MP campaign is bugged with desyncs .. its a waste of time until they fix this. You're lucky if you can finish a game at all .. I wouldnt even bother trying drop in battles

Well you playing single player campaign then and have people drop in (which turns it into multiplayer) will pretty much bring the same glitches you get in mutlplayer campaign battles .. desyncs / freezes

but sure if you're bored and want to try to finish a game or restarting the game 10 times this might be a fun experience for you ..

The desynchs you get in MPC are not in battle, but on the strategy map.

I have played a lot of dropin battles, and in 95% of the time they went perfectly.
I might be wrong though of course,

And the next campaign part is up now.
This time I catch up a bit on what I skipped in the last and explain my further plans to progress.

I won't be slowing down expansion shortly before RD to stock up and turtle, hopefully that will get me some battles pitched against me once I brought the Shogun's wrath upon me

dude they are everywhere .. stop talkin bs .. they're in the battles too and u dont have to be an expert to know this, most people who have tried campaign or just drop in battles know this .. hence why it looks like ur posting videos to urself here and hardly get any feedback because nobody cares .. its embarassing .. maybe try again when they fixed it

Well if nobody cares, they can just choose not to watch it.
You seem to care enough to stay the insufferable, obnoxious person you already established yourself to be on the MP subforum.
I however don't care enough to keep listening to your meaningless dribble, so goodbye. Maybe one day your mummy will give you the attention you obviously so desperately crave.

Regularly play dropins, but have never had anything that could be classed as a desynch. Any time the battle finishes unexpectedly, it's because the host has quit, or my daft wireless has played up again (checked each time).

These videos are interesting and have got me playing any even battles (not obvious wins for either side) in my current campaign by drop-in.

He's suggesting a different, more interesting way of playing to spread the idea, because barely anyone will play dropins and so many of us have stopped using the feature.

PS When was 4400 almost 5000?

Well you got lucky then, there's enough threads on the net about this glitch .. the game will litterally say: There was a desync in the game, the game will now quit. However it wont quit and you cant quit either, the game will freeze and you have to alt-f4 .. There's a reason so many people stopped playing drop ins or multi player campaigns. I did enjoy drop in battles as well but 7 out of 10 games would end up in a de-sync and a freeze. Hence I said maybe it might be fun again when this get's fixed but for now most people wont bother trying.

Sorry my bad .. Just noticed it is actually 4.475 But if he had 4.400 posts at the time you posted (30 mins ago) he will be on 5000 soon enough. So yeah if you look at it that way 4400 is almost 5000
