The first thing you need to do is create a character. Feel free to be as creative as you want, but remember that Roman Senators during the late Republican time frame would have been overwhelmingly Italian and also at least thirty years of age. Create a realistic RP character without adhering strictly to specific historical models.

Here is a resource to help you name your character.

After you have chosen a name, create a short (or long) biography for your character as well as any additional information you would like other players to know about your character. Perhaps your character has recently returned from some campaigns in Greece, or come to Rome from Northern Italy where he has a series of farms.

Now that your character has decided to take up residence in Rome in order to take a more active role in government, he will need to secure a residence within the city. Create a home for your character in this forum. In your home you should calculate your finances, details can be found in the rules. Each new character shall start with 5,000 denarii.

Once you have created and settled your character, venture to the political district so that the new senator may familiarize himself with current debates, hot button issues, the laws of Rome and the political atmosphere of the Senate.
