Default In debt and broke from the start???

Why is it that in the LME 1796 and 1805 Campaign the French Player (me) starts off with a huge defecit in cash? In both campigns on turn one it shows me rapidly losing around 1400 cash for the next turn. Is it meant to be this way in those two LME Campaigns? Seems a bit drastic. Or is it a bug?

    Hey TakedaTex,
do not spend all money, make trades with everybody (especially Prussia), build Trading ships in the Medieterranean and a trading port in Marseille (later destroy the one in the North), occupy with your fleet all good trading points in the Mediterranean and South Atlantic until the trading ships are ready, increase the taxe for the first year, do not attack in the first year (execpt raiding the British ports with Sloops) and everything works fine later.
It's a little bit harder than in vanilla, but makes more fun.

In most games you can make good strides from turn one of a campaign by simply doing some diplomacy and start trading with other countries. In most cases you can make trading agreements even with countries that you have a poor relationship with. Unless you are at war with a faction, most countries will trade with you to a point. Also you can usually manipulate your taxes at the start of the game to better keep your faction in order and maximize the income.

Also pay attention to the time of year. Most winters you will be in the red. So prepare and go toward the research that is income and stablizing on your populous. You can also get some quick fixes by building farms and markets and other outside of the city type building on a province.

Hope that helps, my own little experience.
