Well from a quick read of that thread looks like modders were adjusting some of the units available to the multiplayer_avatar military group or adding new ones. That stuff should never be touched by modders as it feeds into the avatar system. MultiplayeR_avatar military group is used specifically for avatar stuff.

We have not. Reading that thread it is only for custom or unlocked units that have been added to the multiplayer_avatar military group. No custom or unlocked unit should have that line anyway.

And you wonder why I think CA regard us as idiots. When I read his comment I just had to do a tactical facepalm.

    Incredible.
A plea to CA: Please give us NON-STEAM OPTIONS such as with GOG.COM`s Alan Wake and Witcher 2, etc. Even allow a system such that Mount and Blade Uses. Many of us will pay extra for a Steam-free version of RTW2.
The use of STEAM-ONLY by CA is ethically wrong because:
    1. It does not need to be forced. It could be optional as other games have proven.
    2. It discriminates between internet users and non-users or those who simply do not want it.
    3. The `advantages` are only advantages in a very small and superficial manner. They do not counter the disadvantages.
    4. It suits the company way more than the user. We are simply told it`s better for us
Finally,I shall not give CA|SEGA my money for RTW2 while it forces Steam on me. They have given us no good reason why it must be so. Basically they don`t care.

I'm kind of worried to be honest. I mean, I love the adding of the Takeda Fire Cavalry and the Long Yari Oda Ashigaru, but...

    Tokugawa Mounted Gunners?
    Bulletproof Samurai?
    Hand Mortar?

    EDIT:

    So they're perfectly historical.
Why worry too much... the units add a little variety.. so anything is a bonus really! "better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick" oh sorry I said that somewhere else)
Its a game after all, meant to entertain, alright some of the units might not be perfectly "historical".. but then again at least C.A are adding something unique and different.. if nothing else lets commend them on innovation eh?
The way I look at these games is as if they were altenative history or alternate history as our American brethren would insist.
However I would say to CA the next game they release a game, how about making the game absolutely historical... come to this forum if you chaps wish to find out anything of historical value.. the chaps on TWC will always correct you...?

They don`t have to be tipped anything. As long as a bullet was in the optimum range and hit, they would go through. It`s possible that some bullets would embed within the armour and not penetrate, but that`s true for anything. Bullets won`t penetrate even human skin if fired from far enough away and slowed enough by protection or had weak powder.

What they should have said is that the armour is bullet resistant, not bullet proof. There is no armour to this day that aman can wear and move in that`s bullet proof.

I was actually about to edit that some have tried.

It`s just really silly to say that in the period of the 17th century that the Japanese made a bullet proof armour and seriously expect people to believe it. But what the heck, if CA can get away with warrior Nuns, why not bullet proof armour or light sabres. Guess everyone will be up for that too.

I also hate the excuse of members of CA when they say `There`s a tiny bit of evidence somewhere that someone said at somepoint in a dream, long ago that proved it existed` and acting like this is some type of solid evidence when it isn`t. The stretching of truth and reality tosuit a stupid DLC and sell, sell, sell to the impressionable is farcicle. I could so easily do the same thing... watch..

There is evidence that before 1939 the world was indeed only in Black and White and colour never actually existed. the evidence is proven in all the photos pre- 1930s. Only with the beginning of the end of the war did colour gradually seep into everything until now all is in colour for us to see. Buy my special authentic Black and White pictures of history before 1939!

It`s true because I heard it said by an emminent professor somewhere.

yeah... according to CA, railguns existed in feudal japan. obviously the US Navy should've looked in the history records before developing their own

Empire TW was stale when every unit looked the same, thank god they released that DLC.
I hope CA do not listen to the history buffs for Rome 2 TW and Medieval 3 TW (If they come out), those unique units for Medieval 2 TW and Rome TW were awesome.

Sorry for the cut and paste
agreed! gonna try out the new units now.

p.s why we need the are they hist accurate discussion every time beats me. as long as they arent ridiculously overpowered or look bizarre then bring on more i say.

Yes but like has been said before, the guys had lined up his blokes specifically to be mowed down, also they were standing still, added to the fact it included the previous volleys kills & he had the unit on max bonuses.

    ...Actually that's still a ton!
Loose - Free or released from fastening or attachment "a loose tooth".

Lose - Be deprived of or cease to have or retain "I've lost my appetite".

That still is quite overpowered. Cmon, consider this, 2000 units a big army. I come with 1000 of Heavy Gunners, upgraded as much as possible, and 1000 cheap Yari Ashigaru to protect them and just fire two volleys.

Most likely 60-70% of your army is toast.

Bulletproof samurai is just a cool name I don't think that we should take it literally I mean it's just an epic way of calling a unit just like the persian immortals , believe they weren't actually immortals but they used epic names to impress opponents the opponent actually would be more shocked to hear about a " bulletproof " samurai than about a "Partially Bullet Resistant for Their Time-Period, but Not Actually 100% Bulletproof Samurai. " (as someone stated before )

(I'm not justifying the historical accuracy of the unit just the name )

That clearly wasn't a good test. He should have used them in a real battle if he wanted to see their effectiveness.

...How does that make me elderly? and how is disagreeing with you that a perfect scenario test is not a great way to show a units effectiveness mean I "missed the point"?

weren't you the person who was at least partially agreeing with me that the test needs to be taken with a grain of salt?
