In my experience, there are certain people who are simply unreachable by any amount of empirical evidence, medical studies, etc. Unrepentant smokers fall into this category; anyone who has already managed to ignore so many reasons to quit smoking will not be affected by yet another one.

It strikes me, though, that younger men who value machismo over health problems that could arise 40 years in the future may be swayed by the prospect of their...mojos...quitting on them. Then again, the number of patients I've seen who come in for angioplasties and CONTINUE to smoke before and after their procedures is truly amazing.
Thank God I never started smoking. If I was then this would be the final straw.
