Games:
Where Eagles Fly - Known as WEF throughout the IH boards - The first ever mixture of Roleplay and IH games. Ran during the fall of 2010. It's subsequent sequels are: Where Eagles Fly - Take 1914, a game about WWI following the WEF timeline, The Crowned Eagle & The Raised Fist, a game set in a Leftist Revolution following the WEF timeline, and The Darkest Days of Winter, a game about the Cold War following the WEF timeline, as well as the first(and, subsequently, the only) IH game which allowed players to be characters in TWO countries. However, this left the playerbase divided and the workload on the host highly increased, and it failed.
Turn of the Century - known as the 1900 IH in the IH boards - A game ran through the summer and early fall of 2010. The IH that largely revived the boards, attacting many players, and lasting 6 turns before it ended out of arguements, large workloads, and the boredom of the players.
The Greatest War - known as the 1642 IH, or simply 1642, was a game ran throughout Spring of 2011. It was the start of the 'Rule Britannia' IH series.
Götterdämmerung 66 MYA - known more simply as "The Dinosaur IH" - A game intended to be nothing other than silly. Dinosaurs with Religion and Weapons fighting other dinosaurs with Religion and Weapons. Never got off the ground, proposed in late spring 2011.
The Blue and The Grey/Gray - known more commonly as the ACW IH - The IH Board's longest-running turn-based game, hosted by moi, running 7 turns. Ran alongside the 1900 IH through the late spring and summer of 2010, ending in mid-August 2010 do to me being banned from TWC until my 13th Birthday(I was underage ). Had a somewhat successful revival in the fall of 2010, which ran 4 turns.
Rule Britannia - known commonly as RB1911 or RB11 - A "modern" game set in 1911 in the timeline of the 1642 game; England becomes an Empire following the Royalist victory in the English Civil War in the 1642 game. It was run in Late Spring and early Summer of 2011. It's successor was Rule Britannia - 1936, which died several weeks into it's run due to the host losing Interest(one of the first cases of Barry losing interest) as well as players straying from the timeline.
IH 1300: The first IH game hosted by Barry Goldwater and essentially regarded as the "rebirth" of the IH subforum. Revolved around the year 1300 and, despite lasting only three turns, it remains one of the more influential IH games.
Battleground: 1914 - known more commonly as BG1914, BG14, or simply BG - was the game that laid the framework for the modern IH games; though technically not an IH game in itself, it was where many of the "Old Guard" players(including Me, Dan, Kaitsar, Marshy, Kip, and Barry) met for the first time. The game ran about 7-8 turns, during which many foolish things were done; a 3-million-man Chinese force sent to Sweden, a German expedition of 200,000 to Venezuela, and a joint invasion of Russia by German, Italian, and Swedish troops. Eventually died out in flames because of the many arguements going on about the ingame events.
Terms:
Humpback Rock: Refers to WEF's "Battle of Humpback Rock" during the 1801-1802 Civil War, in which an army of around 24,000 Rebels under Jonathan Thomasson was beseiged on a mountaintop by roughly 26,000 Loyalists under John Chevalier. Both sides took around 5-6,000 killed, but the battle ended when the majority of the Rebel force deserted, the rest killed, and Thomasson killed by an aide to the American King, Ioannis Pappas.
Brookemont: Refers to WEF's "Battle of Brookemont", durign the 1801-1802 Civil War, where an army led by Rebel General Philips(IIRC) attacked an army led by Ioannis Pappas personally near a town on the Potomac River. Both sides fought like demons, but in the end it came down to a show of numbers in a massive melee, which the Loyalists barely won.
Thomasson: My(Fred's) Character during WEF; a Virginian General, partaker in the Revolution, Barbary war, Greek war of Independence(in which he was stripped of his rank following a rather stupid decision to attack a heavily fortified town when it was cut off from supply anyways), and American Civil War. He led the Legion of the United States during his career for the United States, and then the "Army of Dixie" during the Civil War, which at it's peak was over 28,000 men strong.
Pappas: Kaitsar's character, John Pappas; a Greek-American Congressman who resigned and led various armies in the wars against the Barbary States and the Ottoman Empire. Led his army against the Sultan himself in the final battle of the war(IIRC it was the Battle of the River Nyxos). Became President, and later, King, which sparked the Southern states to revolt.
Chevalier: Dan the Man's character, John Chevalier, during WEF; an American Nobleman and Congressman, who quickly became Pappas' right hand man during the Civil War. The two, however, squabbled after Chevalier discovered that Pappas had Thomasson killed without his consent().
