I saw some articles on the magyars. One of the maps I put a link too, includes Magyar raids.
That strong in real life? I would think if the magyars dominated the battlefields that thoroughly, they would own Europe at least. And most of the west might still speak some hungarian dialect. The thing about horse archers is they are faster and more mobile, so, even if the archer stats were the same, the horse archers would still have a huge edge. Perhaps instead of making their missile attack quite so high, give them more arrows than most foot archers, maybe 25 instead of 20 arrows. I also still think they probably should have some infantry units even if really crappy ones, because, even if the AI takes one city, they can not properly use the rams their armies try to build. They did have some infantry forces any way too right? As a penalty, could you not do something such as, give all Magyar generals a penalty for building siegeworks when besieging a city? And to curb say the likely hood of the magyars splitting off and taking a city with a non general, give just the magyars a slightly higher chance to betray/rebel the magyar faction?
Also, if taking on city and no more is realistic, why then are they a faction? Why are they considered raiders if they stop raiding after one? They will have large forces and or several armies but will not raid or attack anyone. They should at least raid and attack rebel armies and any faction armies near by and get the camp sack benefits shouldn't they? If not raid and leave settlements too. Could making them a horde be more realistic? Is there no way to script to attack and sack a city then abandon? Maybe, in some future patch, make the magyars scripted to raid the settlements they did historically, and steal from them, if they succeed, with a huge penalty for the faction sacked economically and a huge surplus for the magyars that sacked it.
I have a question about family trees. I do not know if it is a bug or if it is supposed to do this, however it seems odd to me that this happened. When I play as Hordaland, after King Erik dies, his son n law does not become king nor does anyone in his family on his family tree. In fact the faction heir was not listed on the family tree at all, even after Erik got a son n law to take over. It goes to some other King family as if Hordaland is taken over from within by a ally or Nordic kingdom also opposed to Harald. Is this supposed to happen?
