Info is very scarce at the moment, all we know for sure is that he is in a critical condition in intensive care, anything else is just speculation.

Average of around 30 seconds in your brain goes on pause and brain activity ceases. In 3-5 minutes severe brain damage can occur. Ten minutes in assuming survival, which is rather unlikely to begin with, the person is almost certainly a vegetable. Severe cold can increase the chances of recovery and the length of time recovery and survival are possible.

He can recover but I doubt he's playing another match.
    Sad news.

The medics said I was dead for 6 minutes, when I woke up I was freezing and shaking, not sure on the brain damage part, but I have had plenty of scans to say I'm ok.

    I hope he pulls through.

Six minutes with the cold temperature and some good tests I think you're good to go. Those times are averages. I've seen far longer personally and heard of 30 minutes plus.

His risk of brain damage should be extremely low. But a 23 year old having cardiac problems is usually a career ender.

Luckily he is the kind of player who's likely to have another career. He have been studying economy in parallel with his footballing career and I know many firms tend to recruit former professional athletes as they tend to be highly disciplined and focused.

But I am still worried about the risk for brain damage and would really like to know if he is stable as a vegetable or fully functioning.

Terrible stuff, just watched that footage of him laying face down, just terrible to see anyone like that.

A heart condition like that is bound to keep him out of the sport I'd guess. Heres hoping to a quick recovery, poor fellow.

I think we should realise this is still a very serious case. People have been comparing it to Marc Vivien Foe but he sadly died instantly, so the fact that Muamba is alive seems a relief. But the Benfica and Sevilla players who died on the pitch lasted 2-3 days before they passed away. I fear we should keep hoping the boy stays alive and forget about whether he can continue his career or not.

    Very sad news.

The Guardian says that his heart was stopped for two hours.

On more footballsy news, Fernando Torres scores twice against Leicester. Could I be forgiven for thinking that maybe Chelski weren't doing their best under AVB?

Everton manage to not-win a winnable fixture once again, Liverpool manage to beat Stoke. Business is as usual.

I don't know what kind of weird football you play in Argentina, but here in the UK all games are winnable, you just have to score more goals than the opposition. Do you have games where only one team get a goal, the other a brick wall?

Have you seen Milan vs Juventus this season?

Anyways: Torres' 24 goalless hours are over. Now Abramovich paid only 7,14 million pounds for each Torres goal. Praise the lord!

Besides Boca Juniors being unbeaten champions a few months ago, no. But, let's be honest, it was an easy match. Stop nitpicking. Or are you just whiney about Kilmarnock?

Opening up Youtube it was rather depressing to see the number of videos and views of Muamba's collapse on the front page. In a place I worked somebody had an epileptic fit and was seriously hurt banging their head falling down. I had to watch the security camera footage a number of times to determine whether was anything that brought liability on the company, or changes we could make to lessen any injury in a future case, and it was probably the most disturbing thing I have ever had to do. I simply don't understand why anyone would want to watch someone collapse in a life threatening situation.

There was another extreme a few months after when there was a fashion show (with genuine supermodels), and I realised the security cameras in the changing rooms had not been turned off...

A cup is not a title!!!! There are two ls in the name of Liverpool's big lanky striker. And some other grammar errors. Can I proof read your articles before you post them?

Just out of curiosity, how popular is your site?

A cup isn't a title? It's made of silver you know.

The title is winning the Premier League, the League and FA Cups are cups or trophies, not titles. When you talk about winning the league, it's the title, not a title, I have never heard someone describe winning a cup as winning a title. Except silly Yanks or Canucks, but they don't count.

    They're honours.

Those people call it soccer. I've seen it explicitly mentioned as the League title so many times that I fear for my sanity. Aargh, ESPN…
