Actually, that is older than WW2, I would guess it is from the turn of the 20th century. Is that part of the Russo-Japanese War? The Battle of Tsushima, perhaps?

The flags seem to be German. Some seem to be from Southern Germany, others from the North (I believe the black bull on a yellow ground is the coat of arms of Mecklenburg). The arms indicate late Medieval Age. I will have to dig a bit.
Found it: Battle of Laupen that wasn't Mecklenburg but rather Uri!
