The equipment does not look historically accurate to me.

    Wrong battle, right setting.

I looked over the original post and it just says 'a battle' not whether it had to be real or fictional. Those banners are quite identifiable.

You mean Helm's Deep? The earlier battle was the Plains.
I'm really not a LOTR nerd so I have no idea why I know this.

But yeah now that you mention it, this does look like the charge at Helm's Deep. I don't see Gandalf though.

Might be Peleanor Fields, might be the battle of Hornburg. Would be a little flat for the latter.

As a lotr nerd, I can say I'm 100% sure that Brewster is right in that it's Pelennor fields.

I don't get it. Wasn't it partly in the city and partly on the fields and wasn't the city all it was about?

I am inclined to agree with King Athelstan in that the proper name is "Battle of the Pelennor Fields".
    Awaiting chesser's response.

I wouldn't be so sure. If it was Pellenor fields, there'd most likely be Rammas Echor, Minas Tirith itself or the mountains as background.

I'd guess it's the battle of Fangorn, the one where the band taking the hobbits to Isengard was ambushed by the Rohirrim, allowing Pippin and Merry to escape to Fangorn.

It is in fact the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.

And if you look carefully you can see mountains in the background.
