This might be a stupit question but will this mod allow players to use characters like princess? If yes, is there any new feature?

oh that opens up new opportunities :O I'll just marry a useless first son to some princess of one of the anglo-saxon realms (provided that's doable), take over the realm, kill the first son so the bloodline dosn't become tainted, and still have a right to the throne! :o
or.. perhaps I'll still just kill everything that moves, don't know yet
I'll ask a quick question in this thread instead of creating a new one:
Will you change the battle "speed"? I mean in vanilla the battles are quite fast - cavalry kill everything in a matter of seconds, a second charge is already a win (a little exaggerating but you get my point). My point is giving units more defence skill and making melee battles last longer - this way they're more decisive and every unit is doing its role better.

Spoiler for Dangerous stuff:
I don't remember seeing anything about changing the battle speed. Personally, I think the vanilla speed is just fine. I've had battles last well over 30 minutes. I'd hate to see the speed made any slower.

I like the sound of this! My impression of this period of warfare is battles of attrition fought by comparatively small numbers of men (compared to say medieval) . And, as far as my limited research has shown me, not much in the way of tactics.....I mean, best case scenario would be to have your shield wall longer than your enemy's so you can wrap around their flanks.
As do I. Apart from skirmishing with spears and throwing axes then 'Have at ye!', I cannot see much in the way of tactics in a battle between, say, Saxon and Saxon.
Tbh, I believe the Celtic nations of this time would have much more tactics than any Saxon army. They would need too. They have much less 'heavy' troops and still rely heavily on skimrish and ambush tactics.

One thing I've already decided is that my general will always be in the front ranks, especially family members. I think in this period, leadership was more earned rather than given, particularly among the Danes. If he dies, then he was weak and I'll lose the battle. If he lives, then he's strong and will only get stronger.
Well, becouse the Mod's battles have been made much longer, much bloodier and much less one sided it takes smaller things such as where your general is positioned over just superior tactics.

That's sort of what I'm thinking. I mean, generals, for the most part, aren't going to be on horseback so its not as though they can quickly move to weak points on the battlefield. So my thinking is they might as well be in the centre with their household troops pushing through the enemy's line and breaking their shield wall.
