    Well, I'm proud to announce you my mod proposal -Anno DC-.


    This mod would be about dark ages, starting in 600 and finishing about 800/900, so we could show the birth of Islam, the coronation of Charlemagne as roman emperor and the attacks from not roman cultures, like hungarians and vikings.

    I think all the factions are located at the map I linked above. I think there are some historic mistakes, but there aren't many available data of these years in Internet.

    It's just a mod proposal, so I won't start this mod if anyone is offered to help, the mod would need a quite large staff, but aboveall, we would need historians and modellers to start the mod. The current developpers of this mod are:

    Well, when I said Caliphate of Damascus I meant the first caliphate, the Ummayad Caliphate, I think it's the same.

    Of course, but I forgot to add the Papacy to the possible faction list. The Papal States were created as a present from the Frankish emperor to the Pope.

    Of course, but this age was so important (many current nationalities were created in these years) that I forgot the arrival of Balcanic Slavic tribes, anyway, we can add them.

    Intereseting idea. I am still waiting for a mod that somehow deals with the Frankish Empire.


    I could imagine that your set up (map in combination with start date) will cause you some trouble. Starting in 600 with having nothing of the Levante, Arabia or Egypt on the map must not be a good idea. In return the entire east of the map is empty, save for a seriously overpowered ERE. Scandinavia, in return, is mostly missing (not much Vikings, I guess.


    I would suggest to cut out the eastern part (there is a Byzantine mod going on, roughly covering this time frame)

    You should in return expand the map a bit more in the north to have at least parts of Sweden and Norway on it.

    The starting date should rather be 711, that way you could start with the Arabs already in Andalusia but the Goths still alive. Even though this date might cause trouble concerning the Franks because both parts were reunited in 687. So, a date before 687 would be best, but with the Arabs already in Ifriqiya, something like 670.

    Yes, that looks like the perfect size. Make that with 199 province and you have decent map!

    What is the Kingdom of Masuna? And may be you should include one or two Slavian factions such as Obotrites, Pommeranians etc.


    Thuringia would also be an option for the east.
