Writing Course

We'll be going ahead in getting a writing course setup soon here. I'll be overseeing it's production, and possibly be an instructor, though that will be figured out later.

Here was the plan for the writing course, what I felt would be the best way to make it useful to TWC members:

My thoughts were a writer's workshop environment in the form of a Uni course would work best during a good portion of the upcoming school semester - perhaps starting in September and going on for about 2 months or so. There could be anywhere from 2-5 professors to share the workload of helping students with their writing, depending on how many members may sign up for the course. There could also be a few lessons thrown in there, a collaborative effort between the professors, to make it a less subjective approach to writing styles and more or less help with more universal concepts in writing. Homework could go with these lessons, and would likely be focused less on writing skills specifically, but more on methods to improve your own writing, such as editing and proofreading tips.

Would anyone have any suggestions to alter this basic plan for the course?

If not, would you be interested in a course made as I have presented it here?

I plan to have around two or three professors teaching it together at the very least, for reasons stated above. I require mostly that you have the time to dedicate (as this will be a longer than normal course) and demonstrate some very reasonable aptitude in the English language. I will favor those who have work to show for it, such as an article or two in the Scriptorium.

Nothing has been made yet, but my idea was assignments going ahead with teaching skills that will be useful to students in any writing they do, as opposed to going down one set style of writing and teaching that. Trying to keep things less subjective, and more objective and generalized.

May I join as a student? Currently I have had two of my "projects" reviewed by content staff. I think it was the Silver Shield and the Critic's Quill. The first piece was a short story and the second was an article.

I think this is a great idea...do you have to be a citizen to be a professor? I ask because in RL I am a history/English teacher.

Citizenship is never a requirement for anything around here. If you fit the bill that's all that matters. Shoot me a PM if you are really interested in being a professor.
