    Default Rendering trouble

I have asked this before but i am still very confused by it all - when i render something in MAX it always looks stupid, i mean, like the cheek guards here

So, in an easy to understand way, i dont know how to put the alpha channel into the render, and how to put a gloss file there also, except there are so many options with materials and rendering i dont undertand what to do to achieve this...
    Cheers

Okay, basic things to improve rendering.

-Press 8, then change the back colour to 128 on the black and white slider, and set the tint level to 1.5.

For alphas to sohw when you render this is a bit more complex.

    1) Press M
    2) Drag the little grey box next to diffuse with the m in it over the one for opague, and select copy
    3) Click on the little grey box with the m in for opague
    4) Go down to bitmap parameters, and under mono channel output select alpha.
    5) Render and your alpha channels will show in the render.

And i know of no way to show gloss in max, it is best to make your units look good without gloss before applying it.
