Was flag color changed due to taste or historical reasons?

In one of the mods, the Ottoman flag color was changed to red. Was this due to taste or historical accuracy?

If it's taste, then I understand.

But if it's historical accuracy then it's incorrect. It should be these for Ottoman Caliphate:
