Replace the stupid whiny American crew voices with badass Russian ones

If you hate the crew voices as much as I do, well then you probably need professional help. But if you find them stupid and annoying, or just want tank crewmen who don't sound like raw recruits fresh out of high school, then this is probably for you:

Just drop the two files into the (WoTfolder)/res/audio folder, making sure of course to rename the originals as backups.

What these files do is replace the original American voices with Russian ones from the Russian version, so obviously the voices will be in Russian, but they sound a hell of a lot better than the American voices. Here's an example featuring gameplay with the T95 on the Russian test server:

Well, the problem is that I don't understand Russian - in fact I don't even know how to ask for a beer in Russian.....

I realize that many people just ignore the messages anyway but at least if they are in English I understand what they are. I don't recall if the German tankers also speak English - I guess that they do.

Has anyone released other language packs? I thought of doing this a while ago and asked how to do it on the forums since I couldn't figure it out but the only help I got was that the language pack is client side. And I asked for a European language on the US client.

Edit : Nvm. I just got the German language pack and am loving it! Thanks for bringing up the fact that downloading these was possible

I kinda use different language packs depending on which tanks I am mainly grinding. if I grind russian tanks I do take the ukrain language pack as it is made by fans and imo is better than the russian ones (they sound the same to me anyway ...) After a while u start to understand the basic stuff though

And thats how u'll kill a t-95 btw mediums will have a new purpose on the battlefield!

I am quite fine with the English voices so far. They could be better, but they certainly could be much worse as well. With the Russian pack, it is the same thing for me as with Brusilov: I just do not understand Russian apart from the occasional "Da", perhaps. And understanding what they are saying kind of is more important to me than the voices themselves...

To be honest, I'd just prefer to have my German crew speak English, but in a German accent; my Russian crew speak English but in a Russian accent and leave the Americans be.

So long as they weren't stereotypical accents, it'd be good. As in, they get actual Germans to do it.

To be honest, I'd just prefer to have my German crew speak English, but in a German accent; my Russian crew speak English but in a Russian accent and leave the Americans be.

You do do relaize that a lot of such 'accents' are caused by the way that the person was taught the language?

A prime example of many Germans can be found in F1 - Michael Schumacher does not sound like your typical German speaking English. Same with Nico Rosberg (even if I still think he's really Finnish).

When I first came to Europe in 1989 from Australia I was asked to bring a silver coin to an Italian family living near Pisa. When I spoke to them on the telephone they sounded exactly like an American would. The reason for this is that there were US Air Force bases nearby and the work they did, car mechanics, meant that htey picked up English from the Air Force that were in the area.

The biggest mistake ot make is to be stopped next to another vehicle - there is far more annoying noise than when there is a mini-map spammer going crazy....

Yes, but I've heard plenty of Germans speak English in what is not an American accent.

I really hated the new voices when I first heard them yesterday morning (they are not in the 6.5 supertest patches) but rather bizarrly they've started to grow on me......
