Although Gamestop's Impulse client is nowhere near as popular and widespread as Steam I figured "why not" when thinking about starting this thread.
Starting today (July 11th) and running through July 25th Impulse is having a sale on hundreds of games much like Steam has just finished doing. Unfortunately you won't see deals as good (nothing above 75%) but I'm sure there will be a few gems in there.
Today's Deals:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
So I'd say the key ones would be Retribution, Brotherhood, Warband, and Medal of Honor. If you missed those during the Steam sale take a look at Impulse.
Unless they have some really good deals on something I totally overlooked or forgot about (for me Operation Arrowhead for ARMA 2) I doubt I'll buy anything but maybe you all will have some luck. I just hope that they slash the price of the Sins of a Solar Empire Microexpansion Bundle (Entrenchment and Diplomacy). I'd like to get that for less than $20 and SoaSE is only on Impulse.

Gamestop owns impulse? I could of swore that Stardock owned it.
Swear filters are for sites run by immature children.
Stardock does
The Mount and Blade warband deal is even better than steams
Not anymore. It's owned by Gamestop now as of May 2011.Stardock does

Well they had to do something since I can't see brick and mortar stores having any reason to exist for too much longer. Now I kinda don't want to buy stuff from them though. Not that I ever do since usually their sales suck and their support is worse than anything else on Earth. Anyone know if gamersgate will do a summer sale? They did last year. Otherwise I'll just get mount and blade from them, same price as Steam's was.
There's also the giant GameSpot logo on the Impulse home page.
I'd wait a bit longer for Gamersgate - they're doing a free to play thing soon, I hear (by soon I mean the Fall). The AC deal on Impulse looks pretty nice, though.
Well I just checked GG and they have a lot of crap on sale but nothing that interests me really, except maybe Dawn of Discovery but it's not too cheap and that might and magic game but I know nothing about it.
this is good, the more competition steam has the better for the consumer!
Correct-o-mundo!the more competition steam has the better for the consumer!
Maybe this will spur Steam one day to feature these kinds of sales more than twice throughout the year - that would nice.

How would it do that since Steam does their sales more frequently, with more games, and usually more of a deal. The main thing with non steam services tends to be that they're not steam so rabid anti steam people don't feel bad for breaking down and buying on steam.
@Ulyaoth its only logical to think that when there is competition in the market competitors will strive to beat any opposition, right? and is it just coincidental that the impulse sale began as soon as the steam sale ended? I think not
Yeah, just having other digital distribution programs out there present competition for Steam. Pretty soon Origin is going to jump in the fray and is going to secure a good number of people via Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3.

If BF3 is locked into Origin I'll be pretty pissed.
If I have to get origin to play BF3 EA has lost a game sale. I don't want to have to download another program just to play my games, and one without steam's great community features.

Well this is some comfort after missing out on the entire steam sale , now if only today's sales were available for my region everything would be perfect .
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.”
Eh? Just over the last seven months we've had the winter holidays sale, the three weeks of consecutive publisher sales and now 10 days of summer sales with discounts averaging around -80%. How much more do you want? For me it's reached the point where even if I want a game I just wait for the next steam sale to hit instead of buying it immediately.
Steam practically gives its titles away. I'm not sure how competition would do any good here since they can hardly drop their prices any further or throw sales more frequently.
