Help! InstallShield Error for MII:TW

I have Medival II: Total War Gold, I haven't used it ever since two years ago or something like that. I decided to install it in my laptop which is Microsoft Vista Service Pack 2.

The InstallShield appears to "prepare" for the installation when it stops halfway and it was not functioning or running, then the error message called "Unhandled Exception" appear with the message:

"Error number: 0x80040708

Description: Unable to create required engine components, check whether you have appropriate privileges to create COM components. (0x80004005) unspecified error

Setup will now terminate."

How can I find the solution to this problem? I already ordered Shogun: Total War and wait for it to arrive but now this error, I was skeptical for the game to work in a similar way.

Please help me

Have you ever installed it on this harddrive before?

Assuming Vista or 7, logged in as Administrator?

Yes, I did on the old hard drive before it was defaced with bad sectors which forced me to change for new hard drive two months ago, so I haven't installed any total war games in the hard drive till now as Adminstrator because it's the only account on my laptop which is mine.

I tried disabling the UAC but still I can't even enter the Install Wizard because the InstallShield "Prepartor" stops and froze halfway again... I did InstallShield on the other game, ACW game and it works fine...

Now what should I do next?

Could a bad disc. Could try running setup.exe yourself instead of autoinstall.

I did the same thing. I think too because it was not used in a long time, so... well I'm looking forward to get the Shogun: Total War soon as possible

I can try that... but I don't have another computer available here in the home anyway because the only other computer is owned by my mom and she forbids the use of games in her computer.

I understand this. If it would install on another computer, the disc is still good.

Something that works sometimes. Pull the Installshield/uninstalshield folder to your desktop. It's hidden.
