They don't have a Diplomat to start the game with, nor do they have the ability to recruit one just as the Greeks don't have the ability to recruit one. It took me 52 turns to conquer Syracuse. Syracusea was the only town i could recruit faction troops at. So far with both campaigns no CTD. The hippo toxotai have a spear glitch as they charge with it and a sword at the same time.

While playing as Syracusae, I've noticed that when you build a Small Barracks, you can recruit Heavy Hoplites from any city with at least 50% Hellenic culture. But once you build any other barrack upgrade, those Heavy Hoplites disappear...

Also, I would suggest moving the recruitment of Peltasts from the Stables to the Barracks, as they are more related to infantry than cavalry.

And yes, Diplomats would be helpful...

Diplomats will be prebuilt in the next patch.

Heavy hoplites do disappear with the next barracks, but Syracusan heavy hoplites become available.

Yeah I see what you mean. I'll make regular hoplites to continue being available in other cities, when native Syracusan hoplites become available in Syracuse.

What's going to be different now:

You'll be able to recruit native Syracusan hoplites from nearby Leontini in addition to Syracuse, to balance other things out.

By contrast, you'll now be unable to recruit generic Hoplites, even from other cities. Syracusan armies were not known for huge amounts of hoplite soldiers, so you'll have your hoplites from Syracuse and Leontini, and the rest of the army you'll have to fill out with other kinds of soldiers (mercenaries etc).

However, you will be able to recruit native Greek hoplites in Italy, if you conquer those cities.
