Thread: Unit card problem

    Default Unit card problem

Good afternoon. I seem to be having a problem with the non-general unit cards. They all appear to be a default picture, of a grey-shirted peasant with a dagger. Unit cards for generals appear to be correct, as do battlefield graphics. I've tried several factions and each seem to have the same problem.

This is with BC 2.3 using Steam. At first I had installed the game using the folder name change, but then removed and reinstalled it using the Kingdoms Launcher Application. (Very handy even for non-BC mods, btw) The problem has persisted though.

I'm guessing that possibly a cfg file is looking in the wrong spot for those unit card images, but not sure which it would be, if that even is the case.

Thank you for your time, and for a great mod. I'd played 2.02 (I think) in the past and am looking forward to 2.3 now that I'm getting back into TW games again.

I'm having the exact same problem. No answer in almost 3 months? Can someone tell us what went wrong?

If there's no answer, then apparently no one else knows what's wrong. I, for example, don't use Steam at all, so I can't help you. There are users who use Steam, but they, on the other hand, didn't experience such a problem, so they also can't help you.

The only way to fix it, is to fix it by yourself, I'm afraid. Unless you are patient enough to wait until who-knows-when. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I can't help you in this matter.

No. I have done some research on this. The only advise i found is to unpack Medieval II. I have no idea how this could solve the problem but it is worth a try, i think.

I did eventually figure it out some time back, and apologize for not having posted. It's been long enough that I don't recall exactly which files were involved, but the crux of the problem was that the unit card files (and a few others) had been installed in the wrong directory. The general/leader cards were in the right area. I don't know if this was an error with the installation program, or a legacy error from an older installation or even BC, Kingdoms and Steam not playing nice together. (HD failure and a scratched M2TW retail CD combined forces to make me switch to Steam)

Sorry that I can't recall the exact files/subdirectory that needed changed. I think that there may have been a second Broken_Crescent_kingdoms subdirectory containing the unit card files created in the wrong place, but that could very well be wrong.

I think I know what you mean, Within the broken crescent directory there is another broken crescent subdirectory.
    mods/Broken_crescent_kingdoms/Broken_crescent_kingdoms
Then there in the sub directory the file
    mods/Broken_crescent_kindgoms/Broken_crescent_kingdoms/data
    There are these two files
    Units
    Units_info
Within these files there are all of the ui stuff. Is this what you mean?

Wow it worked! I just merged the units and units_info files from the directory data and the subdirectory data together and then took the newly merged units and units_info files and put them into the mods/broken_crescent_kingdoms/data folder and now it works! Thanks
