    Default Classical legion

So i wonder, as some Classical legion units (loriga segmetanta, scutum and gladius) were still on 3rd century, so will they be awailable in this mod? Special unit that is far more expensive or something.
Apologies for anyone who's message i may miss or not be able to answer

hmmm...there might have been some units that looked alike the classical ones (ls, rectangular scutum, gladius) in the first half of the 3rd c.
but i guess their number rapidly declined towards the end of the century i.e. the spatha, chain-mail and thrusting spear became fashion of the day. not sure how they will implement it into the game...

Per defining the Recruiting roster in such a way (that can be done in the export_describe_building.txt file).

When you upgrade the barracks, LS legions are gone! Did I understand correctly?

Well we can include a number of late 3rd C LS legionairies but would be limited. There was a thread that SBH posted a while ago that indicated that some LS armour may have survived till the late 3rd C.

    But it was not dominant.

Do we get hybrids? As in, oval shield, LS, stabbing spear and spatha?

And next to the hybrids I would say there would be a unit with men nearly identical to the classical ones just change some equipment to from say Gallic to type E helmet but I would say keep the gladius. And I would like to ask how the mod is progressing and that I may be able to help work on it if needed.

Yep no imp gallic helms by 3rd century, but plenty of hedderheims and those italics with the ridiculus neck guards.
Also a mix of flat/dished oval scuta and curved rectangulars.

Am I correct in saying the Praetorians will be making a come back?

Man, what sucks is the fact that the Romans didn't have photography or anything back then lol. I often wish they had an incredibly detailed record with illustrations for the legions of every period. But hey, model figures and the internet is the next best thing for us today so here it is (scroll down for numerous pictures in this link): http://cgi.ebay.com/320-Tin-54mm-Fig...-/320723886478
However, the question is, would this guy be historically accurate?

Yeah that would have been nice and I would say that that Praetorian is fairly accurate but wouldn't he have a plume of some sort atop his helmet.

I don't think it's well known whether or not all Praetorians wore crests all the time, half the time, or during ceremonies. I tried looking up info on the matter, but came up dry. I'll keep a look out though.
As for the model figure I linked to, he resembles the Praetorians in the following pictures, although one picture shows him wearing an Illyrian helmet. What I also find interesting is the fact that the first picture says that it represents a Praetorian from Maxentius and Constantine's time, while the second says Septimius Severus, i.e. around 193 AD to first decade of 200s AD. And yet, they both look remarkably similar. So what gives, what changed about them, and what didn't? Oh yeah, and it is said that the Praetorians used traditional oval scutums right up until their disbandment in 312 AD.
