    Default What texture pack?

As the title says, what texture pack should I use, as I kinda got bored of the vanilla one. I'm looking for something medieval-esque, as I'm planning to build castles and such.

I love this pack and also recommend it. It's not medieval per-say, but it's very rpg-esque. You'll like it if you like Zelda or fantasy games.

Best 16x texture pack: Taehls Textrue pack V3(not released yet though)
Best 32x texture packs: Dokucraft and Johnsmith
    *doesnt like 64x packs*
Best REALISTIC 128x texture packs: Bidelles Coldtone pack and Svenfours Ornate pack(slightly artistic take on realism)
Best 128x ARTISTIC : Bordercraft pack, Sevenfours Ornate pack
    Best 256x pack: LB photorealism

All of this is just my opinion, but hey, I only care about my opnion

How much of a performance hit do the resolutions of the pack macke? I'm stuck with an overheating laptop that struggles to run anything including minecraft for more than 30 minutes at a time.

At least for a couple more weeks anyway.
"Every idea is an incitement. It offers itself for belief and if believed it is acted on unless some other belief outweighs it or some failure of energy stifles the movement at its birth. The only difference between the expression of an opinion and an incitement in the narrower sense is the speaker's enthusiasm for the result. Eloquence may set fire to reason." -Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

Well, depends on the laptop really. If you have a bad video card thats the problem, or just simply overheating, then stick to 16-32 packs. However, if you just simply dont have much RAM, you can go all the way to 128x if you run it on fast settings

For 32x32, John Smith imo. For 64x64, Misa's.

    Hey RO

My personal favorites (and the only 2 I've ever used) are John Smith and LB photorealism. I recommend the former if your computer isn't that good (mine isn't )

Also, if you find something very good for medieval things, tell me.

IMO JS is more for a general look, while Doku is better suited for a fantasy medieval look.

i would stick with 16 and under packs anything above 32 requires a HD texture pack fix. If you need it, there r some 1X texture packs lol, but thats for reeeeeaaallly bad computers
